Antivirus
Rhett
(Not even a monkey)
in Zocalo v2.0
I just went to update my Antivirus subscription for Norton 2002 and the charge for one more year of updates (meaning just the virus definitions, NOT Norton Antivirus 2003) and it was 25!! This is for an OEM version of antivirus, and so I want to ask you if they are ripping me a new asshole by charging so much (or is that a standard charge??) Well, let me know. Thanks.

works for me anyhoo. IMO, you spend 60$ for a program, you shouldn't have to keep paying for it...

The uninstall does not remove them....
Be careful....hehe
Formatting is easy. Backup stuff you need to backup. Then make a boot disk with CD-ROM drivers on it if your computer can't boot from CD-ROM, or set it to boot from CD if it can. Insert your windows CD and reboot. At the command prompt, type format c: /u. When it's done formatting, run windows setup from the cd, follow the instructions. Then install all your software again.

I dont want to go with freeware, I need a big name for now... Thanks.
AVG may be freeware, but it in no way means it's not a professional program.
AVG has caught and cured things that Symantec and Norton didn't even know about until it was already rampant. The updates are free... forever!
Makes great biz sense to me...

Yes, but I dont know which ones to remove (last thing I need to do is f up my PC).
Run regedit, hit F3 and type in Symantec. Delete any entry relevant to Symantec.
Note: Do this after uninstalling NAV.

Installed AVG, really like it. What is the catch? What do you not get with the freeware version? Thanks.
No catchs that I know of... been using the freeware version for a year and a half at least...

Cool, I like it.. Except it takes forever to do a scan (80 GB Hard drive takes a while).. Otherwise, its looks just as good as any pay program.
Takes longer because it's looking for more...
