The demo is now available at just about any game website.
And it's pretty cool. The best thing about the game is the Karma physics engine. This engine handles object collisions and weapon projectiles, but it goes one step further: There are no pre-scripted death animations. When a player dies, the Karma physics engine takes over, and the body becomes a full IK (Inverse Kinematics) "rag-doll" model. Bodies flop around fall realistically off ledges and tumble down stairs when they die. it's really a cool thing to see.

They need a secondary slider to adjust the jump/fall speed.
They take so much less skill to use and skill has so little to do with kills now...
Um, most of the weapons are the same as the UT versions, with only minor tweaks.
+ Lightening Gun: Where did this come from? [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif[/img] - I like the concept though...reminds me of Quake III Arena though.
+ ASMD (shock rifle): Basically the same
+ Rocket Launcher: NO GRENADES! How do you play with NO GRENADES! And only 3 ammo build up!
+ Flak Cannon: Too narrow a shot radius...too easy to kill from far as a result.
+ Machine Gun: Before this was a FAST fire weapon. Now its SLOW fire, but powerful shots. It was hard to kill with before. Now its easy.
+ Razorblade: Gone...where to who knows.
+ You can't have dual enforcers, but the ones you do have have grenades.
+ Biosludge: no real difference
+ Pulse Gun: no real difference
+ Sniper Rigle: Gone...replaced with lightening gun - much harder to snipe anything now - lightening is a closer range weapon.
Now onto packages:
+ Um...the lost the body part armor in favor of generic armor...seems a bit less advanced.
General observations:
+ Levels are large and hard to find an average number of players on. When you do find them, almost always 2 shot kills with any decent weapons.

The rocket launcher doesn't have grenades because they were moved to another weapon.
Played one level so far...
too much of a typical death match, nothing wrong with that, but...I never liked Half Lifes online play that much, all offence and no defence. this is one thing WoT and JKii got sooo well. offence AND defence.
I'll buy Unreal 2 rather then the torny. I'm MUCH more into single player games, if the single player is good, then I'll play MP, but a game with no SP...could me out I'm afraid.

Jipiieh, just one guy who thinks a good single player part is more important than the multiplayer part [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif[/img] . Also I only like the SP part of Half Life but Jedi Knight (I) I loved playing it as MP (1 vs 1) due to some of the "defensive/intelligent" Jedi Forces.
I'm currently play the WarCraft 3 campaign but as I tried multiplayer it wasn't mine b/c you only can win if you attack continously from the beginning. Though you can now say, I'm lazy or afraid of fast attack runs [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/wink.gif[/img] I like more playing EE where you can build up a huge base with many defensive structures.
Nevertheless, UT/UT 2003 is good for a quick and funny fight during the lunch break [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif[/img] . But if there will be released such amazing mods for UT 2003 like for UT I think it also could be very interesting for 'defensive' player types like me.

Either way, I'm rather disappointed that most of the weapons are identical to the ones in UT. A lot of the fun in a new FPS is the multitude of new toys to play with, but the fact that most of the weapons act very similarly to the UT ones (and they removed my favorite, the Ripper [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/frown.gif[/img]) really makes it feel like the same old thing.
And of COURSE the game is going to play like the original UT--that's why it's still called Unreal Tournament. If the gameplay were going to be different, there wouldn't be much point in keeping the name. But with that said, the new game modes give the game a new spin (Bombing Run is a lot of fun).
It just seems way too frentic for my tastes. I prefer a SLIGHTLY slower pace in my FPS games, and UT2k3 just seems spastic by default.
Sorry, they pulled the MP out of Unreal II..

I know. [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif[/img] not a problem for me, I can easily live without MP in most games. and a guns only kind of game I can definetly live without MP. I played Halflife MP a few times, but the only times I enjoyed it was when I had a Lan game with two-three bots and my next door neightbor in the next room.
JediKnight ii I LOVE MP, stratogy, offence and defence (I play 100% saber only and no force)
Wheel of Time had mastered this kind of gameplay though. at first it seemed impossible, but then you learned, and everything that was sent your way could be used against your oppenants, or dissapated so long as you worked fast enough.
*Sigh* those were the good old days of WoT though, now everyone uses balefire, and nothing else...(The only unblockable 1 hit wonder weapon in the game)
