Most people have them....whats yours?
Mine: Roaches...the things give the the absolute CREEPS. I can hardly force myself into a room if I know there is one there....Strange thing is, I have NO fear of spiders. large ones, small ones, poisonous ones. all the same. grab a towel and squoosh it. >)
I also have a lesser fear of heights. I have NO fear of them unless my little sister is around. if she is, a two story drop is like...EEP. otherwise, I love walking to the edge of a cliffface with a 500ft drop.
so....what are your fears/phobeas?

Supported heights. In other words, I have trouble standing on the edge of a cliff, or looking out the window high up a building without feeling horrible. But I love flying, I get in a plane at any opportunity. Odd.

A fare number of pilots have a fear of heights. I LOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEE flying and planes. I know one USAF pilot (Ret), and he has afear of heights, yet loved flying at mach 2 at 40,000 feet.

Me too, i have a problem with open heights, any height where there is a good possibility of falling, High ladders, workin on the roof (you should have seen me installing a satellite dish a few weeks back) cliff edges (but i love free climbing)
I have no problem with enclosed heights, tall buildings, airplanes, etc...
My biggest phobia is prolly bugs, Any creepy crawlie, i can't stand them, Spiders, ants, Flies, Bees, repulsive, yuck, make them go away please....

Actually I can't think of any paticular fears I have now, but when I was a little kid I was scared to death of whipporwills (Sp?). Those of you that live in the rural areas of the midwest US know what I'm talking about. Its a small bird that has makes a sound just like the word whipporwill. They only sing at night. I have no clue why, but I couldn't stand hearing that bird.

Anyway, the only fear I have is losing the people I care about.

Jambo_Jimmy:
When I look down from a high place my sense of balance starts going nutso, its classic vertigo, its not some rational thing.. although the knowledge that a "splat" is waiting at the end of a fall doesnt help.
I just dont see how people can have a fear of heights though, its odd, what is it about them.... .the height?
Its the falling...
Its strange tho, i can't stand open heights, and yet i LOVE freeclimbing, going up sheer cliffs with no cables,
It always lets me down hard...

Height's aren't a problem, it's the gravity that I fear. I love flying too...
Isn't it funny how much more we trust metal wings over our naturally born feet?
But I love planes (the window seat is the best!) cars, boats...
I *love* bridges. I once went to the top of one uncovered, and was fine.
I went on a rollercoaster ride in an attempt to overcome my fear. I almost passed out in the way up (a friend reports I went out for a second), but I loved the rest of the ride. It was so fun! But the fear while going up was terrible.
I once tried to conquer my fear by standing on the observation deck of the Seattle space needle. I got out ontop the grid, lost control of my body and fell to the floor. That's all I really remember about that, aside from wanting to get back inside as fast as possible.
Just before the school year started (September 8, 2001), I wanted to get up to the World Trade Center's observation deck and take a shot at the fear once again. But that obviously didn't happen.
I've been trying to really conquer this fear by exposure. If I had the money, I'd probably go for an assisted skydive. It'd be perfect!
Man, I've ridden every roller coaster at Busch Gardens and Six Flags St. Loius at LEAST a dozen times each!
