Looks very impressive as far as eye candy goes(check out the screenshots or D/L the movie)...

    Yup, been following it for ages, its not a space sim though, its a mmorpg, eliteish. Well ok, its space and sim, but not quite...

    I'm guessing that there's no single player mode within the game then...?

    No, no single player mode, but there will be 'safe' systems where you can trade goods without a 'big' risk of running into pirates. And pirates are supposed to have a hard time pirating anyways.

    And it really hasn`t "just popped out" as the development has gone for about (IIRC) 6 years and they are just about to start their beta testing.

    You could say Eve seems to be the older brother of Darkspace.

    Im really looking forward to Freelancer. In a recent interview, they said the multiplayer mode features all the same features as a mmorpg but without the monthly charge.

    It supposedly allows players to travel anywhere that is in the singleplayer game, the same way that ITF was going to.

    Maybe when its out, there could be a Firstones server that we can all play on.

    The last thing I heard about the multiplayer part of Freelancer is that it would only allow about 30 players to play it.

    Hmm, that could be a problem but hopefully they will allow more than that.

    Also, if its modable, it could be possible to create a new "universe" with planets such as Earth, Epsilon 3, Minbar, Z'Ha'Dum...

    Cool...I have a spare system that's still fast enough for game server use(dual p3 933/1 gig sdram)...

    My local ISP also upgraded their DSL service recently as well and with it,i can get up to 375 kb download speeds and 100 kb uploads, with a monthly 30 gig limit on downloads/uploads.... [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif[/img].

    That Should be enough for perhaps 10~15 player matches... [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/confused.gif[/img].
