Poll: Cursors

Yep, sue me. Another poll.

1. What's the cursor set you're using?
2. Do you have a unique collection or a different-cursor-for-each-purpose embargo?
3. Animated or static?
4. Size? (resolution-wise)
5. Why?
6. Do you like cursors that change at every different function?
7. Would you be willing to try a green-blue freeware cursor aimed for large resolutions?*

*I'm looking for a test batch of around 10 people, applicants should post an addy where to send it and preference over ZIP / EXE -archive. Comments on the thread please.

I'm a bit bored here and this hasn't been asked before, if memory serves...

I use a cursor set that came with this theme for WinXP I downloaded called ChaNinja. It's a really good set, with lots of nice clean simple animations. My favorite is the caret cursor. When you move the mouse over some text, the cursor rolls onto it's side then splits in half horizontally. The two halves move apart with a thin line between them, forming an I-bar. It's very cool. 1. Logitech's Standard Black Cursor
    2. no.
    3. Static.
    4. Standard.
    5. Because the regular one sucks and its a nice change of pace.
    6. You mean ones that change when you're running programs (ie: Pointer -> hourglass)? Then yes.
    7. Not if it looks like some kiddy POS.

Oh that's right, there was a list of questions. Well, here we go then:

    1. See above.
    2. See above.
    3. Animated (see above ).
    4. Standard size.
    5. Cause the normal ones are boring and my other set doesn't have the cool cursor-turns-into-I-bar thing.
    6. Huh? All cursor sets change at different functions, even the standard ones.
    7. Does it do the cool cursor-turns-into-I-bar thing?

Nope sorry. The cursor remains static, the colours shift between each-others places, and the I-bar appears in the middle "hollow" screen of the cursor. The I bar then starts to flicker smoothly between black & white, causing lighting effects on the sides at the peak of its brightness.

Yes, but it's easy to assign the same cursor to each and every task. I just wanted to see if anyone here does it like that.

Boredom can lead into strange things. That's public knowledge around here.

You guys don't even want to consider trying out the cursor I boasted?

There you go, I just dug up another grave. You can find the cursor over there under TIEDOSTOT. It's in finnish, but I know you'll work it out. It's not the mod, it's the other one.

  • SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
I tried 'em, and to be honest, I didn't like 'em much. They're just too strong. Too bright, as well, but that's minor, and was only after I went to the highest monitor brightness level. But something that does irritate me is the lack of "fluid" animation. By fluid, I mean acting as if it were moving at a high framerate.

I also noticed it was hard to see at times, due to the transparency. There also appears to be a precision problem. When I tried to rezise a window, I had to click below the normal level for it to work.

Also, I like a bit of animation in my primary cursor. As long as it's nothing extremely flashy, it can prove useful. When playing on photoshop, I often lose the cursor. It's nice to have a tiny bit of animation identify where it is (unless it's on a tool-specific cursor, which can't be changed.)

Well hey, thanks for trying. They're not for everyone, that's the truth. I just made what suits me fine and decided to see if anyone else would be interested about 'em. At least you took a shot at 'em.

And the hotspot of the cursor is located at the very beak of the cone. That may seem a bit out of place as there is only one single pixel with three free sides.
