I have an Idea on how to make money!

Thats right... Make an ad page with 5 ads on it. Have all members click all the ads, 5 - 25 cents an ad with 5 ads is .25 - 1.25 times X members is alot of money. With 2300 members (I have no clue what the members number is) thats 575 - 2875 in US. I will click ads to help FO, just not damned pop ups. They can burn in hell.

    Note that at least 1500 members only visited once, and never have really checked back since. Another 500 lurk. The rest actively post.
    doesn't work well. It's just like that.

    It doesn't work. No one wants to click on ads each day. It isn't a good way to use time. Also, many ad providers force their ads to be place on one specific spot. Others disallow placement near competing advertisers. Banner ads are simply on their way out. They make so little money.

    Banner ad scripts usually only accept clicks from each IP every 6 hours (or a similar time frame). So that is one mark against. It would take ages.
    Not everyone clicks the banner ads. Another mark against.
    A long time ago (like 18 months) we had banner ads. Then they went away for a while. The reason? The ad company refused to support the site because it claimed that we were commanding users to click the ads. DG had posted a message in the forum explaining about the ads and telling everyone to go click them everytime they came to the site. It took him about 9 months to find someone who would put ads there again. We can't make a page full of ads, because the ad company would just say that it was there for people to go to and click on the ads with no intent to read the pages they lead to. Result: No money.

    How about a little bit of creative coding? Make a banner that opens up the next banner which opens up another banner and so on? One click could add up to about 1-200 banners. And if all of our active posters contribute...?

    Sorry, but that's a terrible idea. That kind of "in-your-face" advertising is one of the things I absolutely HATE about ad banners. If I want to click an ad, I'll click it, and it really irritates me to have an ad banner open up window after window. It's cheesy, cheap and frustrating.

    Hey, I know. I hate those things too, but I was thinking about a VOLUNTARY banner with proper precautions. I did think that there would be some restriction to this kind of thing.

    Not to mention that some banner ads are used to get user's statisics like:

    Where they surf
    How long they stay on a certain site
    How they got there
    Sometimes the rather invasive ones grab your name and e-mail address. (which is why I have a fake "Reply To" address. If I want to e-mail someone, all I have to do is remove the fake reply to addy and send my e-mail.)

    The first and third methods are done by default by Apache servers. The annoying thing is, this is all perfectly legal. [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/frown.gif[/img]

    its the only way to make good money!!! Start a site up or somthing and have all the annoying banners that regular porn sites have.. not that i would know...
