just watched Moulin Rouge on tape, missed it on the big screen.

WOW! Fabulous photography, fun story, and the biggest surprise, Obi-Wan can wail out a song! Based on his singing in the film, I think he should sreiously pursue a recording career in addition to his acting career.

    You didn't miss much, believe me. This is one of those movies where you'd watch only if there wasn't anything else on. IMO, I think its the stupidest movie I've ever seen. Right up there with Battlefield Earth.

    I remember *watching* it on a long flight.

    watching being the key word, I couldn't bring myself to plug in the earphones.

    and I was annoyed as hell after being stuck in the Edmonton airport for about 12 hours.

    give me either dramatic character development like in "With Honors" or just blow something up.

    I like strange little films. They are always neat.

    Variety is very important to proper enjoyment of films. If you only watch a single genre, they get boring fast. But if you watch the whole damn field, you find that (a) you actually like some of the lesser known films, and (b) have a greater respect for movies as a whole.

    Moulin Rouge was a very good movie, you just need some culture *tease, poke*. You are probably the same type who would get bored at marching band shows.

    moulin rouge is a brillant film built to attack your senses and emotions. its different and not everyones cup of tea. then again neither is B5.

    Did somebody say I need culture? If I choose to partake of culture I would attend the portland symphony, which I have in the past and hopefully will again in the future hold season tickets too, I also enjoy ballet and the opera, (Im a big wagner fan, yes I know the guy had problems, but he's dead)

    My thoughts exactly. Moulin Rouge was a HUGE "love it or hate it" movie. I haven't talked to a single person who was merely "so-so" about it. Everybody either absolutely loves it or found it to be an insanely huge waste of film.

    I'd be in the latter camp.

    Moulin Rouge is one of those films you'd probably think up after wondering "If I could do anything, and make a 'bizzare in a smart way' film, what would I do." Take out all the wierd stuff and you'd probably find yourself thinking "wouldn't it be weird or funny if 'this' started happening?" That's kind of what Moulin Rouge is a little like, regarding all the bizzare stuff. And it's great that it's done in moderation, and always appropriate to the scene. Excellent film.

    I loved it.... still do. Great looks, great sounds, and I am a big fan of Nicole Kidman in general...

    But then, every one of my friends hated the movie with a passion... one even told me it should have been "more like Cats". Wierd...

    You know I've never seen that movie, and every time I'm at Blockbuster I see it on the shelves and my hand reaches out. I'm alwasy able to control myself and not rent it. But I got to tell ya, I'm dying to see if it's as bad as everyone says it is.
    Kinda like a car accident, you don't want to look, but you just can't turn away.

    i saw it once, thought it was pretty cool. i really liked the beginning(when you first meet the players). if i saw it again i would try it on acid.

    i know a friend who saw it like 6 times in the theater, but then he went with 6 different women, his review of the movie: "dunno, never saw the whole thing, its magic though" [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif[/img]

    Heh he.... movie didn't work like that for me. One girl got offended when she discovered it took place in a bordello, and the other thought it was stupid (the one who made the Cats comment).
