What the *#)@'s going on here?!

I just heard the bad news. Sure pulled the rug out from under my feet. Geez, I leave this place for 24 hours and everything goes straight to hell!!

As if the permanent laying-to-rest of The Game isn't bad enough, for the past week I've been unable to access this place with Netscape at all. Every time I try I get the "illegal operation & will be shut down" crash. I'm only able to post this using my college's computer using IE.

Oh man that's really hitting below the belt. What the hell's going on??

I get the crash too when I try to access the main page with Netscape 4.7x. I think it's because of the ad-banner thingy. The forums work just fine though and I just open the main page in IE and then copy the forum's link to Netscape. That way I can use the forums normally in Netscape. It's very annoying though.

Yes, it was the ad banner thing. Something went wrong with the code and while IE seemed to handle it gracefully, Netsape crashed and burned. But it appears to have been removed now.

  • Nope Netscape 4.7x still crashes, whether it's on my computer or my school's computer. Does this mean I'm stuck using IE from school?? Oh the horror!

In case anyone's wondering I don't have IE on my computer. Like all M$ products it assumes it's smarter than it's users.. I am not impressed

So it is definately the Ad code, then.
  • Guess it's time I upgraded Netscape then.

Why? They don't have anything better out.

  • I'm using an older version of Netscape - too lazy to upgrade.

  • Allrighty then.

I used to be using Netscape 4.7. I upgraded to 4.77, but still got crashes. So I downloaded Netscape 6.0, now everything's fine, crash-wise.

Now that my technical difficulties have been resolved, I just have 2 words to say that adequately sum up my feelings towards the cancellation of The Game:

You're using Netscape 6?? One of the netscape programmers is in my class at uni, and he will freely admit that not only is Netscape 6 a piece of shit, so is the upcoming version.

  • I still have N4.77, I'll just use N6 when I want to visit this place. It's either that or IE - the stupid M$ program that thinks it's smarter than I am. Not much of a choice is it?

I simply use IE because, from much past experience, netscape is so plain poor. It used to rule the web, but those days are long gone now.
