  Slight issue: During departure, the deflector was a yellow/tan color.

  I'm not sure I understand what you just said, Dave. Sanfam mentions that that the deflector was yellowish at the time (presumably because they hadn't turned it on), and then you said it didn't look right red, and seemed to imply that modern defelctors would be red if...what? What am I missing here?

  Okay, all,ow me to clarify. In Star Trek: The Motion Picture, for no apparnt reason, the deflector swicted colors from a red/yellow number to the familiar blue. I haven't the slightest idea as to why this happened, but I assumed it was astetics, and that they prefered the blue deflector to the red one. If it was otherwise, the blue deflectors in Star Trek would be red, because they would have decided to keep the red one back then.
