The best way to get started rendering?

FreejackFreejack Jake the Not-so-Wise
OK guys I've looked at too many cool models and awsome pics not to take a try myself. I'm going to start with blender cause that's the only thing I have access to. I know its a little harder to learn than some commercial programs but still I'm a fast learner.

Were is the best place to start? I see dozens of site with Tutorials, which one has the best begining tutorials? Is there a good book that is worth getting for doing rendering?

Jake
