Question BB systems

Random ChaosRandom Chaos Actually Carefully-selected Order in disguise
I saw SamualK (I think it was him) mention wanting to switch this BB to IkonBoard whenever he can find a converter for UBB to IB. Got a few comments on this:

First, Smilies: Takes forever to enter them becuase everything is manual. Additionally if you put too many in it can overload the "edit" feature on IB under IE. Though you can get arround this problem by "edit"ing the Smilies under Netscape - it can handle the number of form entry boxes that IE can't (in the case I'm refering to, over 300 smilies resulted in over 900 form entry boxes resulted in IE crashing).

------

Ok, I can understand why you want a free BB system ;) - though UBB is a one time fee that you've paid. But I have to say VBB is FAR more powerful then IkonBoard or UBB. Though VBB is a monthly licence that has to be renewed every month (or on a multimonth basis) and thus get expensive fast. Oh well...hehe.

------

Comment on IkonBoard smiles:
- Remove the ;) smile at the FIRST opportunity. Change it to :;) or :;): or something without the ; at the start of it. Turns out IkonBoard for some inexplicable reason thinks that ! = !; when checking for compatible smiles, so any perenthetical comments ending as !) will show !;) with ;) treated as the smiliey! Stupid IB...hehe.

Anyway...enough ranting over IB - its a good system (actually I think its quite a bit more powerful then UBB in general, it just has bugs!).

    Oh and about vbb --

    Owned License - $160

An owned license grants you the right to run on one web server and one web site for each license purchased for an unlimited time. Each license may power one instance of vBulletin on one domain. Included in this package is one year's access to the member area, where you can download updated versions of the software. If you require access to the member area after the year has elapsed, you can renew your access for $30 per year
