There are a lot of projects on kickstarter, and similar sites, that may interest us, even if they are not the super popular making multiple millions. Here is a list of some I think this group may find interesting. Feel free to contribute

    I believe the Nexus 2 project is trying to get $650K in funding. Funny how Minecraft was able to get by with so little. But then look at those visuals. ;)

    Minecraft's funding model is totally different though. It was not "released" for almost two years. However those who pre-ordered the game were given access to developer builds. This gives a decent string of funding without needed upfront money traditionally given by a publisher.

    This works for some game designs, like minecraft and ksp, where even the simple, initial gameplay prototype is interesting. For other games, like story driven games or mission games, this would not work as well or even be detrimental.

    I hear it quite often actually. In CT and MRI, which I both do, a voxel is a basic unit in any imaging sequence

    Just saw the [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzHrpptj5vQ"]in-game ship editor of Limit Theory[/URL], it's deceptively simple to use and creating interesting ship designs seems like a very easy thing to do.

    I'm keeping an eye on that one.

    One thing that keeps me from pledging any cash for Limit Theory is the sole fact that it's a one man operation. He does compensate this a bit by making video updates that show what he has accomplished. Still, it's only one guy working on this. What happens if he looses interest, gets distracted because of real life issues? He could even be in a relationship for all we know. :D

    Scary isn't it? ;)

    He could be the next John Carmack or Chris Roberts fer Kryst's sake. Which makes me wonder why hasn't anyone hired him yet?

    He does appear a bit young... he might actually be too young to get hired. ;)

    Anyway, I'll stay tuned.

    Rouge System looks like it could have a lot of potential, but altho I've backed it, I'm dubious it'll make its target.

    They're looking to licence the rights to Homeworld to make HW3, as well as bringing it to iOS and Android. Interestingly they're only looking to raise $50k to "supplement" their existing funds, which is I think a very reasonable target to achieve. 16 days to go, I think they'll make it

    It will be interesting to see what Richard Garriott does with his new game. Met him at Dragon*Con 2011, although he was mostly talking about his experiences in space.
