I am the Walrus

OK, I just remembered this for some reason recently. I found a site years ago that had a collection of all the prophecies and such from B5 and at the end was this weird thing about JMS talking about the Beatles song I am the Walrus. This is what I'm talking about. Look at the bottom of the page:

Does anyone have any clue if this has ever been explained? I have listened to the actual song, and as the site points out, the line "I am he, as you are he, as you are me, and we are all together." Does sound like Zathras's line "All is three. As you are three. As you are one. As you are The One." It also fits with the philosophy of the show that we are all together, no matter the race or species or whatever. But really, what the hell is this?

It would be easier to ask, which song did they write when they weren't on drugs?! :D

They smoked strawberries, now how odd is that? ;) (I just made that up, so don't ask!)
  • As a Beatles guru, a lot of their songs were not written while on drugs. Some may have been inspired by drugs, perhaps.

I Am the Walrus was John being cheeky, because he wanted to write a word salad song that made no sense, because he hated the fact that english teachers and profs were 'analysing' his lyrics in school.
  • Yeah, I remember reading that they made that song as a joke on the fans and such that were trying to find hidden messages in their songs, like the whole "Paul is dead" thing.

No need to be coy about it. It's not like they are going to get into trouble now because of it. :D

I hate it when people do that... overanalyze things. Especially with music. Beethoven meant to express this and that, at the time he was already deaf and his wife had a migraine. Come on!!! :D

To be fair, classical composers did generally try to express something with their music. It just wasn't usually as deep as a lot of music experts like to claim. Usually it was something more like "it's winter." :D

Oh I agree, you can express feelings and moods with music quite well. We see this used to more or less great effect in movies or plays. It's just like weather forecasting, not as precise and detailed as the experts claim. :)
  • Well, does anyone have any clue how it relates to B5? Some of the lines make me think of something, like "See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly." could be thought of how the League went crazy when the Shadows attacked and the main characters trying to hold them together, and a few other lines might be relateable to other stuff, but this is just bizzare.

Maybe if you chill out and smoke something yourself it will all become clearer! :p
