Husband and I just caught up. First Mark Reynolds, get me the vapors.
Second, it feels like the actors are still developing their characters so none of them are growing on me yet, except for shallow reasons :P I do appreciate the mini-arcs and the continuity between episodes. My hunch is that there is an arc and most the characters will work out.
Although what kind of father lets their 15 year old daughter date a 18-20something year old? I think Shannon is the character I have the least affinity for.

Ok, having seen last night's episode: assuming the truth was told, WTF is a mystery being just told to the audience for? Someone has no clue what suspense is. Go watch Babylon 5 where the Shadow introduction was spread over 2 full seasons.
It could be because it is part of a larger plot. In Defying Gravity Beta was reviled to the audience quite early as the actual mystery was going to be something else.

I refer you to my earlier post. :) When writers don't know what mystery or suspense actually is, the best they can do is use a poor imitation, having characters point-blank say lines that amount to "Mystery," and "Solution."]
To quote Futurama,
Robot Devil: This opera's as lousy as it is brilliant! Your lyrics lack subtlety. You can't just have your characters announce how they feel. That makes me feel angry!
I don't mind too much, mainly because a) we'll never get something as good as B5 again, and b) I'm rather fed up of all the tv shows that give you no answers, only questions. I lost interest in Lost and Fringe for that reason. For once I'm quite glad to be able to sit back and not refer to hand written notes to catch up on all the questions and answers we've been left with, something that B5 didn't suffer from
And it still beats all the other drivel on tv IMO ;)
