Centauri, Minbari, and Technology...

So, I was thinking back along how Londo said that even at the height of the Centauri Empire they would never challenge the Minbari. Yet, by the time the show started, the EA seems as advanced as the Centauri.

But then I realized that Londo was standing on the deck during the bombing of Narn. This wasn't ever really discussed in series, but if they have artificual gravity....how is it accomplished? The minbari use Gravemetric drives, so it made sense, but the centauri are still using a more traditional engine. So where are they technologically? I'd wager still more advanced than the EA, which would make sense then why the shadows allied with the Centauri and EA, and why the Drakh went to the Centauri after the shadows left. They couldn't infiltrate the Minbari, so the next best would be the Centauri, and if the centauri are that much more advanced than the EA, they would be an even greater threat...

    The Centauri probably do have more advanced technology than EA. On the other hand, rmember the Nars supplied Earth with weapons technology during the war, which they in turn took from the Centauri.

    I always took it that the Centauri aren't as advanced as the Minbari, but are still more advanced than the EA. The technology the Centauri use for artificial gravity is probably something similar to what the Minbari use. The EA and the Narns are probably really close in technology levels.
    Don't forget that the main reason the Drakh went to Centauri Prime was because of Londo. Not only was it a good choice of a planet to infiltrate and take over, but they wanted revenge.

    My impression is that it goes Minbari -> Centauri -> Earth -> Narn as far as the major 4 races are concerned. Minbari and Centauri have artificial gravity, and have been spacefaring for at least centuries already, if not millenia (in the case of the Minbari). Earth and Narn have been space powers for a century at most.

    The Narns, to me, may be technologically advanced in weapons and combat (since they probably stole a bunch of crap from the Centauri) but they are behind Earth in everything else, concentrating solely on military while being very weak in infrastructure.

    Im not sure the Centauri dont have gravimetric drives. I mean, they probably do.

    I don't think the Centauri that much more advanced than Earth. Part of their storyline is how they have started to stagnate and decline, they've not progressed for some time.

    The thing is, even though with Earth's rapid advances in tech and space travel over the prior 100 years, the Centauri Repubic was already several centuries old by the time the Narn kicked them out, meaning they should have been even more advanced in the past than Earth in the present.

    It also explains how the Centauri could battle the ISA in Season 5 and didn't get slaughtered. In fact, the only reason they did lose as quickly as they did was because their defense fleet and defense grid was shut down. THeir military was still mostly intact.
