Falling Skies

WORFWORF The Burninator
Spielberg's new alien invasion TV series is premiering tonight. I saw a trailer for it awhile back, it looked quite interesting, so hopefully it will be good :)

    Hopefully it doesn't suck! :)

I'll be interested to see how it goes

I watched it, kinda reminded me of The Walking Dead, with aliens instead of zombies and not as good.

The problem is [sp]it felt a little too happy and everything is going to be alright, in a situation where what's left of humanity is being hunted down by hostile aliens. Maybe I'm just used to Battlestar Galactica[/sp].

That said, the concept was interesting, I'll watch the next episode to see how it goes. It's not as if there's a lot of other scifi around.

  • Sadly, it appears that Spielberg and scifi included with aliens does not match.

I have yet to see a post-apocalyptic show I liked from the start. It could also be the genre it falls into that does not lend itself to become popular from the start. I'd rather watch something taking place at a time when we do not have to fight for our survival.

As with all those shows, Falling Skies has too many characters to keep track of. It is using too many ingredients that we have seen before and so there are little to no surprises. We have seen it all in Jericho (minus the nukes), Jeremiah (minus the awkwardness), War of the Worlds (minus Tome Cruise), Terminator Salvation (minus Christian Bale) and Independence Day (minus Randy Quaid).

I am interested enough to keep watching, but it is not up to the level of V, SG-1 or Firefly and so I don't plan on getting too attached to it. Chances are we won't get more than a season out of it.

In an unrelated note, I just noticed that JMS is involved in the screenplay of Underworld 4... and Selene appears to be back. Whoohoo!! What's not to like?? :D
