I might make the effort to turn the tv on and watch that, but no promises! Kinda lost interest after the drubbing England got

Ok, so that leaves Germany vs. Spain and Uruguay vs. the Netherlands. Who would have thought that Brazil and Argentina would not make it?

    Wow!!

I'm always astonished how professional players forget how to play from one game to the next. I knew Germany was going to loose after seeing their performance during the first half against Spain.

So the final will be Spain vs. the Netherlands. And the Dutch will of course forget where to put the ball and the Spaniards will win.

Well Paul the Octopus said Germany would lose to Spain and he was right.

Me thinks he's going in the fryer tonight :p

Haha yeah that octopus might become endangered overnight!

I have to say tho that it again seemed a rather lacklustre performance on the part of both teams. Watching it in the pub, the general consensus with my friends was that if taken out of context, you would have never been able to guess that the two teams were playing for a spot in the final of the World Cup.

Kinda seems like the story of the whole tournament....

It's always bad news when the goal keeper seems to be doing all the hard work. At least it was a pretty fair game.

The octopus got it right yet again, but it was a close game until the very end. Both teams kept on pushing for 90 minutes and 5 goals in a game aint bad. The Uruguayan team played very much like the German team which gave both sides many opportunities to steal the ball from each other. This is a key difference IMHO of what we saw against the Spanish team.

We could have used more games like this last one during the entire tournament.

And as expected Spain won the final, but no one expected the Dutch to put up such a good fight. Iniesta only scored the winning goal at the 117th minute.

And what a final match it was!

Was it just me, or did most of the crowd look rather underwhelmed even when Spain lofted the trophy?

I dunno, i was too busy cleaning up after the 50 people who came to the cafe to watch the match... thankfully none of them brought any vuvuzelas...

I'm still ticked that Germany was out. That was the last team I could root for.

I think the vuvuzela was the biggest winner of the world cup to be honest.
