I-War

Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
Got it from the gog.com, even tho I have the originals at home too.. But hell..

Couldnt resist.

Works fine on my laptop too.. And getting the hang of flying with just a keyboard too. Pretty nice.. Manage to hold on my own in a fight against 2 or so smaller ships.. But on the first try, 2 corvettes were my doom.

Looks surprisingly good for its age too. Not that I've ever had one of those glittery eyes.

Thats another game I want to get out again at some point. And you can't beat the intro movie! Still one of the best!

you know, I bought it a few years ago, and still haven't installed it...

    I should fix that.

I tried to get I-war 2 to run on Vista and it was quite unplayable, because the game would lag every few seconds for some unknown reason.

Well there's your problem right there

You say that, I got the complete set of Commandoes series of games and so far only the original game appears to be running too fast on my dual core Win7 system. C2 runs just fine. I always feel a bit uncomfortable when a game insists on installing an old version of DirectX.... it seems to me like I'm trying to fit a cube through a round hole.

Maybe I'll give it another go to see if Iwar2 will run on Win7.
  • How is the GOG version? What OS are you running it on? Does it come with the 3DFX binaries? If so, have you tried a Glide wrapper? (Or better yet, busted out the VooDoo?)

Gog version is ok. Runs quite easily with the basic installation, no need for tricks or anything.

    Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Dont think it comes with 3DFX itself, but used dgVoodoo Glide Wrapper. I get funky image on that, but mostly due to my laptops resolution I guess.. Cant try on bigger screen atm and too tired to mess with the settings. Basically I get that old fashioned 3d effect, the one you needed red and green glasses for. Double image etc...
