Sat beside Micheal McShane the other day on the plane...

...and I didn't even realize it until after I got off the plane.

In case you didn't know, he's the big guy from the original English version of Who's Line Is It Anyway. He also played Friar Tuck in the Costner version of Robin Hood and he was the hypnotherapist who keeled over in Office Space.

It was a lightly loaded Delta flight from Savannah to Altanta and he sat a couple chairs across from me, 3rd to last row on an MD80. He's lost some weight, so that was part of it. When we were getting off someone asked him about his shirt (said "Good Theater for Bad People), which was for a friend theater company in NY. He said he'd been in Savannah to look at a job teaching improv and that he'd been working in England for a long time. It wasn't until after I got off the plane that I made the connection. He had a birth mark on his right temple which confirmed it was him.

Funny how you meet people from time to time.

That's actually quite a long story explaining that you didn't really sit beside him. :D

And no, I don't want to see a picture of you two. :D
  • Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
I thought he was usually pretty boring in the show.

Sorry, no WORF-esq photos. Yeah, the story is basicly a lament at my mindlessness for not striking up a conversation.

heh, reminds me of whenever I went to the Passion conference in Atlanta. I was meeting up with a group, we booked late, and were left with the option of the Super 8 motel. Now, granted, even a Super 8 in downtown Atlanta is nicer than many places. But alas.

I arrived early, like 5:30am early. The rest of the group was scheduled to arrive at 2pm. So I had many hours to kill. Bear in mind, this is on January 1st. So the new years party is still kicking. Some interesting sights that evening sitting in the hotel lobby.

Anyhoo, at about 8:15 this guy steps out of the elevator and ask "did the building survive?" I laugh, and strike up a conversation with him. Turns out he's in town for hte same conference, had flown in from the UK the previous day, intending to recoup from jet lag. Didn't happen. Had a nice conversation with him before he got up to leave.

That evening the conference starts, I'm looking through the info packet, and realize that the guy I was talking to was Matt Redman, one of the band leaders. Pretty cool that a guy that plays internationally stays at a super 8.
