Oh yeah, I also liked Soul Hunter. I thought it established very well early on that B5 would be dealing with philosophical areas as well, and I think it was done pretty well.
Biggles<font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
I saw Tron Legacy today. I liked it. Even though I hadn't seen the first movie, I found it easy enough to follow, especially seeing some of the discussion here first.
Spoiler: I was pretty impressed with the CG faces on Clu and Tron. I mean, I could tell that it was CG, but it was still really well done. I really liked the use of colors and everything in it. I actually quite enjoyed the story too, and found it's pace kind of relaxing in a way. I'll have to watch the first one eventually. I really liked the music in the movie. I'm a fan of minimalism and such, or at least, I do enjoy it. The music kept reminding me of Metal Gear Solid 2.
And yeah, being a B5 fan, I got a kick out of any scene with Alan or Tron in it! And there should have been more of Tron!
Daft Punk did the music, and they got access to a full orchestra. I really really like the soundtrack. The title of one of them cracked me up too: Spoiler: Adagio for TRON

TKO was the worst ep. Actually, if you look, the writer of TKO also wrote a number of other episodes I didn't like, so I think I just didn't care for the writer, Lawrence Ditillio.
His credits included such excellent masterpieces as TKO, Eyes, A Spider in the Web, GROPOS, and Knives. None of these are terrible episodes (well, TKO and Eyes excluded), but they all tend to have the same underlying neanderthal mindset of violence but little thought that I never cared for in any of the B5 episodes (or other shows, for that matter).
However, he also wrote Deathwalker, which I did enjoy (mostly because of the 2ndary plot line) and Born to the Purple, both important story arch episodes.
Gropos to me is worse than TKO. TKO is bad, but the characterizations in Gropos are insulting. The backstory of Franklin's father is good, as are his personal interactions, but everything else in that episode is just a straight up insult.
Saw it. Wasn't great, but it was pretty good. The visuals were absolutely amazing. The story was good.
Honestly though I did have a problem with Spoiler: Why was Jeff Bridges character Kevin Flynn, less like Kevin Flynn and more like the Dude? Is that what he has been reduced to? Clearly I don't expect him to be fighting the fight after 20 years practically in exile, but the whole hippie thing was too much.
Other than that, needs more Bruce. Spoiler: At the end, when Tron regains himself, I wish he would have taken the helmet off. When he sank in the water, and his suit turned back to blue, I waited for the rest of the movie for him to make a comeback. Ah well.

Soul Hunter was also the 2nd episode of Babylon 5, so it shouldn't be expected to be "excellent" because it had nothing to build on. It helped set the arc with Delen, providing an incredible tease of the backstory without revealing anything.
Saw Tron this weekend, went to an IMAX 3D showing which was almost sensory overload...at the very least it was friggin LOUD! All in all I liked it, didn't really expect it to be the greatest story ever told, just a fun ride, which it was. I really liked the way the light cycles and the aircraft would image into existence.
[sp]I think reason Flynn was so much like the Dude is that with the CLU at his side, he became a split personality, hence the rejoining at the end.[/sp]
Spoiler: Yeah, could someone explain to me what happened at the end? I mean, Flynn sucking Clu in like that. It just seemed too much like some convinient way to resolve the whole Clu thing that came out of nowhere.

Spoiler: I thought the same thing too, but after my second viewing Olivia Wilde's character explains to Flynn Junior about that at the house, so it was already set up. I think she called it re-integration.
(Yea, big ass spoilers to follow)
Spoiler:
OK, I'm going to ignore the basic things like biologically entering a computer and living there for 27 years. Basic plot premis / suspension of disbelief deal. Hell, I'll even do the same with the kid breaking into the building and uploading the OS in 45 seconds from a cell phone.
But I absolutly MUST rip on the ending, as even given the ground rules of the film, it made no sense at all. Two lines could have given it more credence (That being, using Flynn Seniors code to exit would erase him on the grid) but it was stated earlier that he would continue to live on the grid if that happened, if Clu used his code to exit.
So, given that he would survive, at the very end...he sacrifices himself and destroys the grid. But hang on a second...he suddenly has the power to just wipe out the grid? Why didn't he use some of that power to stop Clu day 1? "Oh sorry, I have to spend 20 years in meditation to be able to use this power". Doesn't make any sense.
And Clu jumping into the portal at the end...Rather than just shoving him SIDEWAYS with his level 9000 power that he just acquired for no reason, he pulls him backwards. Because you know...we had an extra 6 million to blow on effects so screw logic and scriptwriters.
These wouldn't bother me so much if they were not so obviously avoidable. Tron became good at the end again, give him another light plane and let him sideswipe Clu at the end, and kill him. Voila, Tron survives (As in this one) Clu dies (as in this one). Hell, Have Flynn kill him, just skip that stupid jump sequence and insane power up.
Here's a thought. Clu sees that he has the wrong disc, gets angry, and kills Flynn. BUT, killing his creator goes against his code, and he self destructs, taking out the grid with him. That would make more sense than a random and senseless powerup. for Flynn. And that's just off the top of my head...surely they could have done better.
Overall, baring the ending, I'd have given it an 8.5. the mind numbingly stupid ending sequence dropped it from a good film to average.
Spoiler: See, I don't think the full grid was destroyed, or at least I don't remember seeing that part. The reintegration, to me, seemed like matter and antimatter annihilation, but in digital form. If it was destroyed then why did Sam back it up at the end? It is also very possible that the super wind was the reintegration, much like how an electron and positron are negative and positive and will attract each other.
I think I gotta agree with Croxis on this one, that the [sp]Flynn was trying to reintegrate Clu, as opposed to just keeping him from Sam.[/sp]

Spoiler: And he had previously said he would not survive reintegration with Clu, so the ending was set up much earlier in the film. That said, I think it was somewhat of a cop-out.
Just got back from seeing it myself, Spoiler: I did find the end rather weak, and wish there was more Tron in Tron, But overall i loved it, Loved Daft Punk spinning tunes in the bar, Loved all the quotes from the original movie, from Flynn's, "Greetings Programs" to Sark's disk speach almost word for word, I do wish they had done more with Ed Dillenger's son, and more with tron, but i suspect they are setting up a Sequel.
I think thats why I enjoyed the ending as much as I did. It isn't an obvious "ZOMG SQUEAL!" but left a subtle possibility. Another thing I liked about the movie was how subtle a lot of the world building was. Yes, key plot points were explicit, but a lot of the background was quite nuance.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did get the soundtrack almost immediately upon its release. It. Is. Epic.
Daft Punk has produced one of the best scores to grace the screen in years. Nearly every single track is memorable in some way. The duo also managed to get some amazing results with their Strings set.
I saw the movie this week, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The music really kicks ass, and my fav track on the soundtrack is Adagio for Tron. Pretty awesome mix of electronic and classical music.
Ive been listening to the soundtrack 8-10 hours a day since (Yeah, I get addicted to music).
It took me a while, but I had the opportunity to see Tron yesterday. I really enjoyed it, also in every action sequence I had that odd, disturbing feeling under my chest which someone might call uncertain excitement... I liked it.
Bruce was great, it really is nice to follow someone "you know".. Kinda makes you wait for his next appearance through the whole movie. You kinda notice the similar things, such as Bruce's habit to say same word rapidly after another... Nononononono....
Spoiler:
Though, I didn't notice that the Bruce was the Tron guy till in the end credits..
There is also a animated series coming to Disney XD with voicing from Elijah Wood, Paul Ruebens and of course everyone's favorite program, Mr. Boxleitner.
The preview looked decent, even borrowing at least some of Daft Punk music (or style anyway).
And damn, it needs more Tron! I think the best part was the few seconds we could see him in.. Screw The Dude.. I want more Young Tron in the second movie! :P
Croxis, How did you get that from "The next day" as it was just what happened between the end of Tron and the beginning of Legacy, I'm all for more, but i just didn't get the sense of that from "The next day"
The chronology isn't that focused, it can be difficult to parse what was past and what was present. Essentially it was "the next day" (mainly due to the fact that Alan/Tron was Chairman and Flynn was now involved in the company) with a lot of inbetween the movies flashbacks.
Comments
However. "Na to re to na to re" is rather catchy.

I'm not big on electronica but damn, it was one of the best film soundtracks I've heard in years. I love the main leitmotif.
