We've come a long way from the dark ages. While it may seem odd to get knighted for entertaining people, I think it's a nice change of pace. Many entertainers have been knighted before and it's refreshing to see that you get honored for "killing" people on stage or the silver screen. :)

It didn't use to be that way.
• For equality's sake... Why can't women's be called Sir's, or become knights? It's 2010, damnit.
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
You can call your women whatever you like. But don't call them Shirley. :D
• hmm, Shirley Kathryn *******.

If youd read the whole article, youd see that they can. Theyre called "dame".

Awesome for Stewart and Jackson. :D
• I didn't even read the article, I just looked at the pics. And didn't see any femme fatales there.

Sorry.

I thought he should have been made a knight years ago. I think he's an uncommonly good actor, regardless of his portrayal of Captain Picard
• What's wrong with Picard? One of the best roles ever.
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
I think he meant that irregardless of his awesomeness as Picard, he still should have been knighted.

There is no such word as irregardless...

Sorry, feeling a a bit grammernazi-esc (yes I realize that is not a word either).

He'll still be Captain Jean-Luc Picard to the rest of the world. :D

That's Sir Captain Jean-Luc Picard to you!

Ah, no Messiah got it right. Picard was an awesome role for him, but he's a great actor beyond that role

Apparently, the jury is still out on that one (more or less since 1912). ;)

Seriously though, I was convinced it was like every other ir- word, a negation of the original, I guess its quite irlogical though, since -less is also a negation.

Meh, if its all the same to you, Ill be using it irregardless.. :p

There's no such word in real English, even if there is in the American bastardisation of the language. ;)

I can see his wife now: "Sir, would you be so kind and take out the trash?" :D

They already called him sir on the show... it's not really going to change much.
