Got it today after work. It was fun and they took the game in some interesting (and unexpected) directions. Was it as good as COD4? I don't think so. But it was still good. However, this one didn't draw me into the story as much as the last one; probably because it was a little far-fetched (if those kind of things matter to you in a shooter).
I didn't care for the fact that Soap and Price had to become fugitives and I'm not quite sure why Shepard betrayed them. I guess it sets it up nicely for sequels. Also, the all-out invasion of the US, while interesting, was over the top.
Any thoughts?

i might pick it up at some point as i quite enjoyed the first one but it's not high on my list.
Spoiler: From what I gathered the General was actually working with Makarov, to set off the entire incident. He was angered over the loss of his men when the nuke went off in MW1 and that no one seemed to care, so he tried to create the attack on American soil (I guess, just assuming that Russia would invade after the terrorist attack was blamed on the American? That is one story point that was reaching pretty far) to prove to America that the military was needed, and deserved respect and recognition for its sacrifices. He used 141 to help erase evidence of his involvement with Makarov, then tried to eliminate the members that would know. One thing I didn't like this time around, was having to play so many characters that ended up dying. It was a unique storytelling tool in MW1, because it was used sparingly. This time you played 3 doomed characters. It loses its impact at that point.
Don't get me wrong though, I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign! Even if the story seemed it was just created so they could connect several interesting and exciting set pieces together.
I've heard 'Jumed the shark' bandied about already regarding the story this time around, and I can see that, being as this one moved the series even further from actualy or near-actual events to fiction. Still liked it! Can't wait to get into multiplayer with my coworkers tomorrow!
I refuse to buy WAW, and I sure as [poopie] won't be getting this one either.
I'm have never been, am not, and never will be a console lover. If PC gaming dies... then so be it. I guess I'll have more free time than ever before. LMAO... but I will never go console.
