OK, why is there no thread on this movie yet?

Go see it! It was great. :D

Meh, I've never liked zombie movies...done to death :p
• but Zombie Comedy is lesser done. :) And this is much better than Shawn of the Dead IMHO. :)
• Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
Now that is a bold claim as Shawn was ace. Could it be that good?

You've got red on you.
• While I enjoy and appreciate British comedy, and find most American comedy in rather poor taste (Glares at American Pie), I can honestly say that this is one of the more entertaining (if morbidly so) movies I have had the privilege to view. The humor is of a rather macabre nature of course, so if you are sensative to issues of blood, gore, and general disregard for (formally human) life, then this movie is most likely not for you. However if the idea of walking into a grocery store and attracting the formally human residents by plucking out "Dueling Banjos" for the sheer joy of committing Zombiecide with said banjo sounds remotely entertaining, then this movie is well worth the price of admission.

While obviously not intended to rival the literary classics of Shakespeare, Clemens, or Tolkien, it manages to accomplish it's primary goal (Which is to say, entertain the masses) rather appreciably well.
• so no one else here has seen it?

88% off rotten-tomatoes, higher if you go on the community rank. Worth the admission price, and defiantly worth seeing on the big screen.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Saw it with a lady frend last night at the local Drive-in, double-featured against District 9.

Best.
Pairing.
Ever.

I loved it immensely, and it was a brilliant date movie! While the tone is very different from Shaun, it would fit comfortably along side it.
• saw it again this past weekend. I don't know that I'd call it a date movie, but if you can...then you found a keeper. :D

Awesome movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man that was a blast.

PS saw a trailer for 2012...I knew the movie would be bad, but I could not fathom the depths of the baddness the movie would obtain. The whole thing was sequence of John Cusac getting his family out of LA while the California is crumbling around them...includes driving a limo through a skyscraper, getting in a plane somehow at LAX and for some reason flying at an altitude so low they have to dodge random falling freeways and skyscrapers!
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
That does look terrible. I guess it was only a matter of time before a movie studio latched onto the 2012 craze.

I don't know, I think 2012 looks set to be a tad bit more entertaining than The Day After Tomorrow was.

The visuals are at least even more spectacular if not very convincing.

Too bad Jack Nicholson isn't playing the POTUS in it. :D
• FreejackFreejack Jake the Not-so-Wise
The visuals may be spectacular, but judging by the trailer, there is some very bad CGI going on...

Jake
• gah...2012...I mean, I have a pretty good ability to suspend disbelief with movies...but I couldn't even get through the trailer without wincing at the shear disregard for...well...pretty much anything amounting to:

Physics
Common sense
Thought
Critical thinking
Plot
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
Plot, what plot? :D

You must be talking about a different trailer, because I can't make out a plot. It's the plot to end all plots.
• Some dude actually took off the special effects from some 2012 trailer... And it sums up my expectations:

Wow its the 1001 overly expressive faces of John Cusack.

Teheh Keyboard cat is the doom of mankind!

I said it lacked those things. :)
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
Just mentioning the lack of plot was too much. :D

The absence of proof doesn't mean proof of absence... does that make sense? :D
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
Funny movie. It has everything the Wicker Man movies lack, attitude and sick sense of humor.

Never apply logic to the plot though. Power generation hardly ever seems to be in issue in post-apocalyptic scenarios. I mean, power is generated automatically and all you have to do is flip switches to get some, right? Life is beautiful. :D
• FreejackFreejack Jake the Not-so-Wise
Um all my post-apocalyptic planning hinges on the assumption that I have an uninterrupted and widely available source of electricity...

Jake
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
I'm sure there will be power for a few weeks, until things start to break down and no one's there to fix them. Hydro-electric power plants may last longer. The problem I see is that you have all those interconnected power lines drawing energy from fossil fuels, solar and wind alternative energy sources, but this isn't going to do you much good if large chunks of the power grid collapse. Power distribution is a b*tch. You have to build your own mini power production facility to be sure to be able to play on your PS3 or Xbox360 after the initial fallout. :D

Fortunately someone has done the legwork to answer this question: http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2165/when-the-zombies-take-over-how-long-till-the-electricity-fails
