Lucasarts + Steam

WORFWORF The Burninator
Lucasarts will be releasing some of their old games on Steam.

So far we've got:

Armed and Dangerous
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
LOOM
Star Wars Battlefront II
Star Wars Republic Commando
Star Wars Starfighter
The Dig
Thrillville: Off the Rails

Half of those aren't really classics or even that old but supposedly more are coming. Now we just have to buy a million copies each of the X-Wing games when they get added so we can show they are profitable.

  • I loved the Dig...with all the talk of LA bring back an old IP, makes me long for a remake of that.

I must confess, I've never heard of Dig. Republic Commando is the only game there that I'd really be interested in, and I didnt think it was anything special even when I had it.

Hopefully there might be some more interesting ones added later, tho I'd rather have another X-Wing or Tie-fighter game ;)
  • The Dig was a good sci-fi point and click adventure I thought...Robert Patrick voiced the lead which I thought was cool.

I was all about it that summer it came out. I read the novel, got the soundtrack, played the game...I need to introduce my wife to it, play it again!

I agree with the X-Wing point wholeheartedly! Bring it back!

The Dig is an awesome game. Every scifi fan should play it.

I've always wanted to play Loom. I think I shall be getting that without delay!

    Tie Fighter in mspaint.

oooh! Fate of Atalantis. Now that brings back memories. I loved that game. I spent all day for several days in a row all day playing it with a friend on his 286.
  • I'm a full supporter of the X-wing Series (Since it was the only game series I exaustivly modded). I have X-wing Disk(Luckily I zipped the disks up before the floppies went bad, but still have them) all the way to X-wing Alliance. A Tie Fighter 2 would be awsome! But the last word I heard is that Totally Games was no longer interested in making PC games or sims. I think all they do now is phone games.
  • Um, the best game is obvious missing from this thread: Grim Fandango

    Awesome.

Would it have to be Totally Games that would have to develop a Tie Fighter 2?
  • nope, it could always be my pie-in-the-sky, as-yet-to-be-incorporated company :D

Oh, here's an idea, games like The Dig and Grim Fandango on the Wii....

[Edit] After reading the link, definitely gotta get the updated Monkey Island!

Totally Games haven't done anything for 2 years, no idea what they're upto. There's nothing on their site about phone games.

The Fate of Atlantis is included in the new Indy game for the Wii as a bonus feature.

Well, at least wingmen were good in one thing, offering enemy other targets than you to shoot down... for first couple enemy waves.
  • Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
i'd love a new x-wing, or Tie Fighter, or Wing Commander..
  • WORFWORF The Burninator
Refa, that TIE Fighter comic is great! :D

Just bought Loom, going to try it later.

  • SD: If it's going to be half decent, I would say so. Look at the junk that sequels to games got offered to other companies in the past (Except COD4, it completly rocks), then again I can be wrong, but not many examples have came across my desk. Look at Halo Wars... Bungie had little involvement in it, and look how it quickly dumped.

Worf: There was job postings a while back (I havn't check for a while), for people with experience in mobile apps. I did a search and Larry Holland is part of a team at Timelapsemobile. And looking at interviews, they have been mostly into the RPG and FPS games. So it looks like... well unless some "other" company makes a combat flight sim that just woo's the whole world over, a new X-wing or Tie Fighter won't exist... ever. Battlefront 2 tried to put something in and it sucked. Galaxies tried something and I heard it completly reeked. Recently released was the new X-com 3 (I think it's called the human conflict or something), and it quickly disappeared off the Wal-Mart shelves here in Indiana (Otherwise, it sold like crap on a stick) I buy every flight sim in hope that something I do helps spark the market, but yet no avail.

I was reading yesterday the management for Lucasarts has changed, the new people are a lot more interested in the old games than what has been released over the last few years. So I imagine they'll be looking at what their most successful titles were in the past.

Actually I believe the whole rereleasing old games on steam is to see which sell the best so they know what to remake next after Monkey Island.

The new games were probably the quickest they could put together to keep the fans who were speculating it was going to be Battlefront 3 happy.

Well, the wife is almost all the way though The Dig already, so I guess they've got a satified customer on out end.

Really, if Lucasarts gets back to the quality of their original games, they could be a force to recon with.

Space Quest? Fuck yeah! Played them all through at a friend's house years ago, but I've always wanted my own copy.
  • I saw space quest the entire collection on sale at Big Lots the other day for like 6 bucks, made windows compat if I remember right.
  • FreejackFreejack Jake the Not-so-Wise
Sweet, I'll see about grabbing those, my wife will like them.
