If I had an iPhone I'd get something like this battery and case:

I might not keep the phone in it, but I'd keep it handy to slide it in.
My wife has one, the battery usually does last the day (including 3G use, she does use it for email a lot), but to be sure it won't die she's in the habit of recharging it in the office and at night (even in the car).
I don't have one only because I'm not a heavy cell phone user, hundreds of minutes on the plan would go to waste, prepaid phone service is more than enough for my cell phone calling needs and that ain't available (might never be, I don't guess there will be a prepaid calling + unlimited data plan) for the iPhone yet.
GPS is not my friend, early warning system for most authorities! >_<

I'm thinking I might actually cancel my contract with my current network at the moment as their signal coverage seems to be crap and so very temperamental its not worth it. So thinking I'll get an iPhone instead, but it would mean paying about £200 to cancel the current contract. I'm undecided....
