I believe that means Jack has lost the argument before it has even started.

It sure feels that way sometimes, the way some people worship him and think he's going to Make the World Better instantly. :p

oh god not a thread like this.. fascism is sorta like a a racists socialist welfare state.
• Godwin's Law being invoked doesn't mean that an argument is wrong.

Example: Hitler is more evil than a kitten.

I don't know, kittens are quite evil. They are an invasive species and they make me sneeze.

I don't think it works as "a little humor," but more like political commentary about "change" as an analogy to what happened way back in the 30s in Germany, but I can't see the funny side of it. Massive unemployment in the US not seen since the 80s, 1 in 10 Americans living off food stamps. Nope, not my kind of funny.

I appreciate the humour, even if it did make me wince slightly ;)

If you cant laugh at yourself and/or the world then you might as well give up now

Yeah...

My sense of humor is often misread.

Maybe it's more a sense of irony...

I'm not making fun of those people StingRay. My humor (as dark as it is) was toward the use of that poster of Obama and the word "Change".

I mean really, when all I have to do is add a "cow-lick" a funny moustache, and a little swastica button to make him look a LOT like Hitler and the political posters of the day...

No offenses intended as said before. ;)

I am not offended, I'm not part of that generation. I just think there are certain topics that are off limits to make fun off, that is all.

There is absolutely no reason to upload a funny picture with a swastika unless you are a Buddhist or a Hindu.

American comedians were in a tough spot right after 9/11, wondering when the right time was to make jokes about it? I haven't encountered many and certainly not a single one I liked, well with the exception of that photoshopped picture of the burning and smoking twin towers shaped like the universal signal of the middle finger. It was a reflex reaction to this shocking event and it was a natural response at the time.

As a general rule, I just believe it is inappropriate to make fun of human tragedy. Maybe I'm overreacting, there are plenty of cartoons which make fun of hunger in the world, so much so that it's not an issue anymore.

I guess we just get used to everything after a while.

I for one feel that you need to be able to joke about anything, to be able to put them it us, not to forget mind you, but there is a reason my jewish friends tell the "most offending" jokes about ww2.

I also feel we need to take back the swastika from the nazis, only way to do that is to use it outside of that context, and accept it as the symbol of luck and hope that it was originally, though thats not going to happen in the western world for at least some 50 years I guess.

as a point of reference, when I went to school, we werent allowed to sing the swedish anthem, because it was considered racist. We werent allowed to use the swedish flag either for the same reason. A couple of years later, our commander in chief decided that all our troops should display the swedish flag on their "civilian" uniforms, to take it back as it were from the racists, and slowly but surely opinion changed. There are still those that consider the swedish flag to be racist, but most dont.

I suppose it's a matter of context. Flags are often a sensitive topic too, especially the confederate flag in the South. I know, it seems silly, after all it's just a piece of cloth with different colors on it.

It was an awesome movie with bad acting, but you summed it up pretty good. :)
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
I can agree that humor is a matter of taste, and that you can't argue about it, may it be in good or in bad taste. :D

Clint is the best. The acting isn't the best, but the message does get across. ;)

/me shudders....

Being able to laugh about an event is important in our ability look at a situation objectively. South Park does a very good job of reflecting the absurdity of serious events using comedy.
