B5Scrolls has been updated . . . again. :) Plus I want some advice.
B5Scrolls has been updated a little. . . . again. :)
Like it says on the title.
Primary something resembling a proper ‘interview’ with Tim Earls.

There’s also a few bits of concept art added from him, starting on screen 7 of the Babylon 5 & Crusade section.

There’s also a couple of ones you may find interesting in the miscellaneous section – starting on screen 6.

There’s a few ship screens that have been edited with new content as well as a model for the animation of the IA-1 which was kindly donated by a certain someone on this forum. Genuinely, thanks again for that, I couldn’t face doing another one, just wish I could have lit it better.

There’s something else I want to ask you guys. Since discovering Firstones it’s obvious there’s some real dedicated yet pragmatic fans floating around here. (yeah, I’m a crawler but it’s true :-)
I approached B5Scrolls (because at the time that’s what I was) as a newbie to the B5 fan community. Part of that was extending the content to include contributions from folks who were not directly involved with the show but were connected to topics which fans had discussed. Jack and Sierra games being an example of that you most likely already know about..
http://themadgoner.com/B5/B5Scrolls/B5Scrolls.htm#Screen1_08_1
I’ve done the same with Mongoose. However . . . . . . . . a couple of the topics discussed may be seen as being a little too controversial. Personally I don’t think so, but realise they may cause an embolism for some jms-hardcore types – as well as sit uncomfortbly with others. I don’t want to include ‘gossip’ or certain other things on the site such as what really happened behind the scenes of the FI split (they were edited out). But some of what’s covered in these was public and had very real consequences for some fans.

http://themadgoner.com/B5/B5Scrolls/MonScreen4.htm
http://themadgoner.com/B5/B5Scrolls/MonScreen5.htm
http://themadgoner.com/B5/B5Scrolls/MonScreen6.htm
http://themadgoner.com/B5/B5Scrolls/MonScreen7.htm
So, what I’m asking is. Does the above screens look like jms ‘bashing’, is it of interest, or does it read more like both me and Mathew carrying out an exercise in venting. In other words should it be included to the site.
Be honest, but please, if what’s said does press your buttons don’t go off the deep end, I’m genuinely asking for some advice here, as I don’t have any axes to grind but it was pretty interesting stuff and definitely expands on what Joe (who brought it to the public arena) said on the matter. I’ve also triple checked with Mathew, he has the ‘paperwork’ to confirm the things said. After all I don’t want him or me to get sued. ;)
I won’t be asking, or showing this, on ANY other forum so if you know of anyone who may have an opinion you’ll need to direct them to this thread.

One reason for contacting Mathew was I found it difficult to believe that a commercial business with their years of experience dealing with various games licences only offered Joe $500 for all the work listed. How he explained it was logical enough, given how Joe appeared agitated at the time with WB and the German DVD release (it’s in the links shown in one of the screens) so he may have been using a bit of, what's the opposite of hyperbola, when describing how Mongoose approached him.
I was into Call to Arms at the time, so I read both sides, and what Ive been able to piece together, JMS comes off as a bit of a douche as Croxis says.
But I think the big problem lies in that JMS never recieved any onfo via WB that Mongoose sent and Mongoose never got any from JMS. I guess he has a somewhat fragile ego and it should be handled with care.
Put it up on your own risk. ;)
I’ve also no idea how much of what is being discussed appears in other places (like the cancellation of the canon tech manual and the Lost Tales DVD flyer thing) so don’t know if any of it is ‘new’, the joys of a 56k modem connection means I don’t spend any time browsing the net.
With regards to that first question in screen six. Is it the Jesus exclamation or some other part of it that’s dodgy.

In my particular region it means to be a jerk. Also those with fake tan and popped collars. I dressed up as one for last Halloween.
I can understand jms being protective of his baby, at the same time some of his actions end up hurting those who want to hold the baby.
Wow, that was a horrid metaphor.
Cheers. So, it reads OK then, more or less.
You can probably appreciate why I couldn’t really ask this on most other B5 sites.
Regarding question 6:1, I dunno, it doesnt seem to follow well after page 5. The "Jesus!!" part doesnt help, and I feel if you can skip the "Why" in the fifth sentence youd have a more neutral question, though that might falsify the interview as a source material (just add a few .. and that will be no problem though).
Anyway, I’ve also slightly reworded my reason for asking the question. I’d not normally approach this as it’s not anyone’s business but Joe’s and Warner’s. Seems a bit of a grey area though, as he’s mentioned, a few times, his contract with Warner doesn’t make him any money and how he owns the movie rights and not much else. So since he’s publicly spoken of it I’m assuming (rightly or wrongly) that it’s OK to ask what seems to be a related question.

On a seperte question. Who is Sergei S (can't find a list of members, probably missing something obvious) and any ideas as to why he thinks B5Scrolls is Chris Wren’s site. I’m only asking as he is connected to firstones if I read that right, and if he want’s to ask any questions about the site he’s barking up the wrong lampost. :)
You you will inevitably get ripped apart by some small portion of the fanbase, but consider it a compliment; you're providing a view on the show that nobody else has ever felt was "necessary." This is information that would otherwise vanish with the people who created the show. And as B5 demonstrated so many times, the truth is rarely all sparkles and stardust.
