Yeah it isn't. I agree it has some good ideas but hasn't quite pulled together for some reason. Good that Fox have agreed to air the 13 episodes, was touch and go for a while. Any rumours on what he's going to do next?
I read an amusing review I think on Amazon.com where by the reviewer said that Josh came up with the idea but was brain washed by Fox so he forgot how they'd treated him in the past so they managed to get him to make a show they wanted, but then Josh slowly woke up and remembered and returned to his old ways. Worth a read.
My understanding is he approached Fox as they are more willing to try unusual concepts for shows than other networks and the people who cancelled Firefly before are no longer there.
I believe he wants to do more web video and more Dr Horrible, so that's what we'll be getting next :)

I read an entertaining blog entry a while ago that proposed a theory: the reason Fox tries unusual concepts for new shows is so that it can cancel them after a few episodes, retain the rights, and therefore prevent any competitors from getting interesting new shows that might take market share, without spending too much money.
That's what they say about Uwe Boll as well, he's not about making movies, he's about making money through movies. So you can understand where he's coming from and why the movies are what they are.
Sorry about a week late, but last Friday was the beginning of the end for Dollhouse, 2 eps a week in the States.
I thought these were two very strong episodes, and my wife and I really enjoyed them.
Two things that stood out:
Spoiler: Summer Glau as the eccentric, psychotic programmer! It was a unique role. I kept trying to nail down her character but couldn't quite put my finger on it; maybe that's the point. Her and Topher's interactions were delightfully awkward.
And
Spoiler: Two Tophers! If I closed my eyes Victor sounded so much like Topher it was freaky. The writing between these two were also excellent
A strong start to the remaining episodes, which only underscores the bittersweet feeling I have knowing that it's ending. The show really has found its footing.
Of course, if that really does mean more Firefly I'll take it!
