I'd go with best bang for your quid mate, #2 for me.
You really can't fall for the hardware hype anymore, there's always some game out there that's going to make your new rig look old. :(
That's my current laptop. Bought it for 500 euros in 2007 from Taipei.. and I can still play Fallout 3 with graphics that are adequate and without slowing down (or crashing all the time)...
Fallout 3 is also on my wishlist. :D
