SLOTCARS!

Here's some pictures of the slot car track I picked up a couple weeks ago:

Its a 4 lane, routed wood track, breaks down in 4 sections.

Overall size is 9' x 16' with a center lane length of around 55'

I have a few of those left over from childhood. Unless you have crossings, the outer lane is going to be at a serious disadvantage..

Actually both the innermost (tight corners) and the outer lane (longest distance) are at a disadvantage, but that doesn't matter all that much. This track will be used for club racing and in that case you cycle through the lanes in different heats. So if there are 8 racers, you end up running 8 heats total, with each driver running each lane once.

In that system, having dissimilar lane lengths is not a big deal. Matter of fact, it makes the track that much more challenging if each lane exhibits slightly different personalitiy, meaning I have to adapt to 4 slightly different tracks during the race.

I saw that. The sad part is that his recreation is probably better quality than the original. 80's Lambo's were exactly known reliable vehicles.

One of my friends designed controllers for real slot cars (not the toy ones). Those things have to handle something like 100 amps.
