Well they lost my business...

Well I have no problem with this as long as they charge $19 for each campaign.

LOL are you kidding me?

Well if I wasnt really tempted to get it before, I sure as hell won't be now! Bunch of fuckwits
• assuming the individual campaign length makes up for a 3 part game (25 odd missions per storyline would be ok) i'd see no reason to complain.

multiplayer is in from the start so it'll still be oodles of fun :)

I'm not so horribly offended by this pricing structure. Blizzard has not once short-changed the user on content. I don't see why splitting it into three independent packages would be reason enough to start now. If they're splitting it, it's probable they've got enough content to make it reasonable. The key, however, is pricing. At $50 a release, I wouldn't buy it. At $30, however, I'd likely buy each one as I play through it.
• Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
What I dont like is that "each part has the same ending"... If I remember what I read correctly.

So basically, 3 games which all end in the same way.. Whats the fun in that?
• ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
Oh I dunno....if the ending involves blowing something up in a spectacularly large fireball, I wouldnt necessarily complain
• doesn't really matter if there's 1 ending for 3 parts.. you are after all playing it from 3 different perspectives.

i wouldn't be surprised if they come up with some different pricing for this... maybe digital upgrade expansions for part 2&3 via the blizzard store that come in cheaper than the retail boxes. fact is there are no facts yet so sit back and chill
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
As has been said, it all comes down to price. if its $10 each Ill buy them. $20 Ill skip them, gotta live on student loans.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
This will work fine (and is an interesting approach) provided pricing is appropriate to the amount of content in each one.

I don't know what the hoopla is all about. You guys usually complain about all the useless stuff that comes bundled with things you buy that you don't care about but still have to pay for even if you don't really want to. Now Blizzard goes through the effort of releasing all three races separately so that you don't have to by any races you don't want to.

Make up your mind!! :D
• WORFWORF The Burninator
It's my hope that each installment is sold for a third of the regular price, maybe half. Not sure if that's likely though, I'm starting to think that WoW has made Blizzard very money hungry.

An alternative would be if people can buy the first part and are able to purchase the follow ups at a much more reduced rate.

I like the idea of splitting it into three games. One of my complaints with games is that they are usually so short you hardly get your moneys worth. That said paying regular price for each episode isn't much of a solution. They need to be priced reasonably. Something like the half life episodes would be fine by me but I will not pay the nearly $60 a new blizzard game costs three times over.

2 Words..

Half Life...

HL2, HL2 Episode 1, HL2 Episiode 2, HL2 Episode 3....

need i say more?

bliz aint the first to do this sort of thing.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
They might be the first to release some genuinely substantial content in each campaign.

Also, it's a bit of a shame that Valve has taken so long to release additional Half Life 2 episodes. One of the strongest reasons they gave for releasing in an episodic format was the reduced time-to-publishing for additional content. Doesn't look like we've seen any of that yet. :/
• Vorlons in my HeadVorlons in my Head The Vorlons told me to.
By the time it's taken them to get ep 1, 2, and 3 out they could have likely done HL3 in about the same amount of time. I haven't even played ep 2 yet because it took so long my interest for the game has mostly worn away.
• 100 bucks in the end, I don't think so!!
•
Some people say that the decision to release StarCraft II as a trilogy is a sign of Activision flexing its muscle over Blizzard—to “milk” the StarCraft franchise. Is the trilogy format related at all to the Activision merger?

No, absolutely not. [Activision] does not play a factor at all. One of the things that [StarCraft II lead producer] Chris Sigaty was saying in interviews this weekend is that we had always planned to do two expansion packs for StarCraft II. This structure just reshuffles how we were going to do things.

Just to give you some context, typically with Blizzard RTSes, we release a single-player campaign that gives players just a taste of each race. The original StarCraft had 10 missions each or so for Terrans and Protoss. When we released the Brood Wars expansion pack, there was another eight or so missions for each of the missions.

All we’re really doing is reshuffling how players are going to experience the single-player content. In StarCraft II, we’re going to have a campaign that focuses strictly on the Terran. It’ll be 26-30 missions long, and you’ll play as Jim Rainer. When we release first expansion set, that’s going to focus on Zerg. So that’s going to be another 26-30 missions strictly focusing on Zerg. When we go to the final expansion pack, it will be the Protoss experience, probably another 26-30 missions.

I think the readers aren’t understanding that there’s a full, gi-normous single-player campaign experience in each of these three products. Instead of getting all three race experiences at once, to make it a more epic experience, we’re focusing on one faction per entry for the single-player.

Bob Colayco -- There’s no schedule that dictates how much time can or can’t pass between chapters of the trilogy. We’ll take as long as we need to in order to make each chapter feel just as epic and exciting as the last one. The point of this decision was to go big with each campaign, delivering more cutscenes (both in-game and pre-rendered), more interactive sets to explore, more characters to interact with, more meaningful choices in missions and technology, more everything than would have been possible otherwise. We’re going to make sure each chapter hits all the right notes and delivers the epic and awesome experience that is expected from a StarCraft game.
26-30 missions per game, i'll buy! :D
• Ranger BrianRanger Brian The Anti-Scrooge
As long as we can play any race in skirmish / multiplayer, and we don't need the Zerg campaign to be able to purchase / play the Protoss I don't see the problem. You're still getting tons of content in each expansion.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
If it means the story is that much better presented (and the pricing is still right), then I'm happy.

Of course, ideally they'd just make expansion packs for SupCom. Then I wouldn't have to suffer through the dull SC gameplay to get the story. :p
