Question to comp guru's

in Zocalo v2.0
My laptop that I take to work I think died, but I want to make sure I have a second opinion.
Symptoms:
1: Laptop powers up, cd-rom powers up, hard drive powers up, cpu fan turns on to full blast then to normal speed (typical for it's boot up)
2: Hard drive light does not come on
3: Screen does not turn on. (I check with flashlight to see if backlight burnt out)
4: Connected to external monitor and no signal
5: Disconnected hdd and extra memory, no change
6: Took out battery and only on AC, same symptoms.
7: No beeps indicating bios error
8: Pressing bios entry key and then pressing escape and pressing enter to cause a computer reboot is not sucessful. It doesn't reboot.
9: ran the battery down, plugged in ac adaptor, charge light does not come on.
10: Holding down power button will cause it to shut off like normal
So is it a lost cause?

Basic questions:
Is there good ventilation in your office/room?
Does the AC adapter sound loud or is the battery hot to the touch?
Yes.
No, no.
Also make sure your surge protector is actually on. :D
If it is...
My opinion:
New laptop
It's an '05 model. It's the one I bought when Beth passed away. Took it to work every day, made tons of 3d models, wrote my stories, kept my time down, did 2d graphics, I did it all on the thing, so it's kinda of like loosing a pet...
get an EEE PC! :D
I'll probably get one of those at some point to replace my old backup desktop PC which as far as I'm concerned, will be the last traditional desktop I'll most likely ever own.
I can't speak for the N64 emulator, but the NES and SNES emulators work in Linux quite happily. I'm sure there is an N64 emulator for linux out there somewhere, too. :)
