Mass Murder At Zoo

Zoo Rampage By 7 Year Old Killing 13 Animals

I'm just floored. What is wrong with people? What is wrong with this kid? What the *heck* is wrong with this kids parents? What should be done to this kid? I'm at a total loss. At 7 he's already a mass murderer and serial killer? What’s he going to be like at 16?

My vengence side is saying: Ship him to Singapore cane the *heck* out of him, then give him rehab and counceling. Then the moment he shows a repeat trend remove him and his parents from the gene pool.

The turtle upset me the most. :(

At the least, the boys family should pay for the animals, and the wages for the people responsible for getting new ones at least until they have a new population of the same types.

Tbh, I dont know if this crime will be tagged as murder. I would not be nearly as upset if he ate them himself instead. Such a waste, and such a disrespect for life.

Considering the actions of the brother, I blame parents

This is one of those things that just makes me go "...the fuck?"

The boy may not be criminally liable for this, but he should definitely have to undergo counselling. Meanwhile, judging from the way his brother behaves, the parents should be liable.

I say feed him to the crock, it's what he deserves.

You know, there are fucked up kids who do crap like that out of peer pressure or to look cool to their friends, which is still moronic, but that little bastard looks like he did it alone for nothing more than his own perverse pleasure and amusement. That is pretty fucked up.
  • Killing small creatures? Isn't this one of the signs of future serial killers?

Would it have been any different if the kid had fed the crocodile live chicken?

I'm a bit surprised by the outrage, there are child soldiers killing people every day. I do not condone the actions of the kid, but maybe this needs to be put in the proper perspective. And why is nobody asking how the crocodile is feeling about this? My guess would probably be, quite satiated.

Stupid comes in every shape, age or flavor. There's nothing new about it.

For once I actually agree with Stingray abit. But how messed up kids are sometimes makes me wonder, what really are the parents doing with them. This family I know had 2 boys at the age around 7 and one day they had a friend over. The friend came up with the idea that the younger of the brothers should stand up on a cliff and then they would throw stones at him to see how fast he'd fall down. Luckily the older brother didn't want to do it and told his mother so the former friend wasn't ever welcome back.

i doubt he'd have scaled a wall to break into a place to steal chickens to feed to it, as it is, he could have broken into wherever they store the food to feed to it, but he didnt, instead he bashed out the brains of other animals with a rock and then tossed them to the crock. that sounds the same as feeding live chickens to it to you???

Not if you put it like that, but it doesn't say that in the article. One can get bludgeoned to death without ever being hit on the head.

Kids do stupid things, that doesn't mean they'll all grow up to be criminals.

Next thing they are going to claim is that a video game made him do it, something along the lines of Whack-a-mole.

It's true that the kid needs some help. I mean at 7 years, you can still expect things to go wrong. The parents are responsible, no doubt about that.

I'm inclined to agree with Stingray. Now that they do realize is there is a problem perhaps it can be fixed (with the kid). But the loss of any kind of life is terrible.

I quote arny "Its in ya nature to destroy yaselfs."
  • Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
True, but if you are buldgeoning animals like that, there is definately some underlying issue. which hopefuilly intesive therapy and a swift kick in the ass can solve.

and i dont blame video games for doing it... it's all the violence on TV, sheesh! :)

Taking the opposite viewpoint, you could also say we should not be outraged at the use of child soldiers because there are kids doing fucked up stuff elsewhere. It seems pointless to me to say that people should not be outraged at a kid doing something particularly bad just because kids are doing something particularly bad, possibly worse, elsewhere. It doesn't "put it in the proper perspective" at all. When something is fucked up, it's fucked up. Reserving our feelings about it for only the most fucked up things that we can't do much about wouldn't help us fix the less fucked up things that are in our backyard and fixable.

Point taken, I wasn't trying to tell anyone how he or she should feel about it.

But then again, being outraged about it on a scifi forum isn't really going to help the kid, or is it?

No, not really. But I see no point in supressing the emotions generated.
