So, how are you prepared for this?

I only bought food for two days, it would be pity to waste money on nothing... Then I ordered a picture on my wall, it will probably take 3 days to get it here, so I may not exactly see it hanging on my wall.

Otherwise, I think I'll watch couple of my favorite B5 episodes before world ends...

    I'm looking forward to the end of the world, mainly because it will get me out of doing the rest of my placement :rolleyes:

    Started it today, and all the folk are really nice and friendly....but I just cannot be arsed. I'm missing ALL of freshers week (well, except 2 Saturday nights) because I'm in the frozen north of Scotland on placement. Well, I say frozen north....its been better weather here today than all summer in Aberdeen :D

    Rant over :p

    Back on topic, if it werent for placemnt I'd be watching the startup live on tv :D I cant wait to see how this technological masterpiece performs

    Damn what was that one movie where they create some sort of particle accelerator and when they activate it they create a time loop causing the same day to repeat over and over again but they keep doing different things till finally one of them jumps in front of it and stops the loop. Yeah could be fun!

    See, ya'll are missing the point, one of the things they hope to prove/disprove using the LHC is the existance of Other Dimensions, the world isn't simply going to End, or Blow up, or be sucked into a Black Hole, no, have you people never read Stephen King.     Well, it's supposed to be a big bang simulation... so depending on who you ask, either they'll end up with quantum particles splattered all over the Atlas sensors or a miniature black hole will form where the Earth once sat in space. :D

    Either way, it's probably going to be interesting.

    We have a far greater chance of our heads imploding due to bad scientific rap than the world ending just because the LHC is being tested. :D

    Well, as far as I understand it, the actual test hasn't occurred yet. They only fired a beam in a clockwise direction today.

    They will have to fire another beam in a counterclock direction, and only after those two tests are successful, they will fire beams in opposite directions to smash two protons together. I don't know what the schedule for the actual event is.

    I guess they just needed an excuse to have some Champagne today. :D
