Rogue TraderRogue Trader Somebody stop him...
A B5 announcement? Maybe even a Rising Stars movie? Who knows but now I got something besides the WWDC to look forward too.

I'm not excited. I'm bored of jms's constant "on this date you will know something really cool!" In inevitably turns out to be something really boring, or the date just goes by without any announcements whatsoever.

You know what they say about armchair film makers? ;)

I fail to see anything resembling an armchair film maker in what I said.

No, I think I'd be satisfied if JMS announced that B5 DVDs were being rereleased in HD at half of their current price, and that a new Lost Tales was coming out next year. And that, for some reason, jmsnews.com was being renamed to WriterWords.

You can't blame JMS for hyping his own work, since nobody else is doing it for him. :D

So far I haven't checked out any other of his creations besides B5... I'm looking forward to the Changeling.

• I'm only looking foreword to B5 universe things. I haven't cable so no Jeremiah for me. As I understand it JMS did a few seasons. That it wasn't so good after he left.

Well Biggles does have a point, as some of the stuff 'hyped' hasnt really happened. On the other hand, for 'it' to be appearing in print could mean it will be good. Z minus 9 days and we'll find out :)

Honestly I don't think I would like to see B5 in HD. HD is much less forgiving then SD and if the show was re-done in HD all of the flaws would be so much more glaring. Never mind how pixelated the effects would look.

The problem is that he essentially hypes vapour. He keeps telling us great things will be announced on a certain date, and most of the time that date goes by with nothing. I'd have no problem with him hyping stuff if he'd learn to wait until things are set in stone before announcing "something really cool is happening!"

I highly recommend Jeremiah. In the first season especially, he really shows how good he is at long-form narrative.

jms wrote (with the help of someone else) both seasons. He left because he got sick of the network that was financing it basically being worse than TNT was to Crusade. Despite their interference, he managed to turn out an excellent short series with a relatively complete ending.

I'm going to have to agree with Biggles here. How many times have we heard that something was supposed to be announced and then nothing. Or something that we don't really care about. The question that I find myself asking is

Am I a fan of JMS or just Babylon 5?

I liked some of his other works outside of B5 (rising stars and midnight nation) but he tends to get to full of himself when writing and it becomes too wordy.

I think I'm a fan of B5 only and mainly because of all the others involved (actors and crew). Just like I'm a fan of Star Wars and Star Trek only. I didn't care much for Lucas' or Roddenberry's other works.

I'll check out Jeremiah, but after seeing Jericho, I don't know if it will measure up to the new post-apocalyptic standard. :D
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
I'm a fan of B5, I like Jeremiah, and I do think that jms is good at forming long-form complex plots, but I wouldn't claim to be a jms fan. I prefer to take each work individually (for most creators :p).

I don't see myself watching "Murder, She Wrote" just because JMS wrote some episodes. :D
• I like as much Excalibur as we got and were it was supposed to have gone.

And Falcon 1 good luck on becoming JMS's apprentice. :)

Jeremiah was great and I enjoy reading about what JMS does :)

I've read his run on Spider-Man (overall a B) and his Fantastic Four was ok. Supreme Power started off like Rising Stars and then became its own thing and then just stopped. Picked up Volume 1 of his Thor today so I'll get back to ya on that :p

And there's really no need for that because B5 is much much more about story and developing of persons than "bling".

with B5, i'd be more interested in Kick Ass Sound than HD, i can't remember, are the DVD's in Dolby Digital 5.1? i'd love to see it remixed into 8.1

of course i dont own an 8.1 system yet... but i will!
• WORFWORF The Burninator
B5 in HD would only work if the CGI was rendered again, especially for the early episodes.

As for the 19th? If something interesting is revealed, that's great but I wouldn't get my hopes up, we're still waiting for at least 5 announcements.

Worf
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
The sound in the series wasn't particularly great, either. Hissing, muted dialog, oddly varied quality for a wide range of effects...

I don't think 8.1 is even remotely usable.
