problems with puter

MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
One of my computers run on win 2000 (being a student I cant afford to upgrade), and since yesterday it wont boot, Ive installed win xp previously but not registered, so that I can use it to fix problems that might occur, and here we are.

The only thing i can boot now is the secure command prompt of win xp. I have gotten a message that index.dll is corrupt or missing, I thought perhaps the drive was damaged physically, but chkdsk found nothing..

Can anyone recommend something? In the meantime, Im googleing along, well see if I find something myself.

At least 2000 Professional has repair install so have you tried it?

For shitload of system/component testing software check Hiren Boot CD.
