Astronomy Conspiracy

I can't seem to get rid of that feeling that the media are deliberately trying to make the whole field of astronomy look lame.

The latest example: Supernova caught exploding on camera

So just from reading the headline, wow, you think to yourself this must look like A.W.E.S.O.M.E and what do you get for the anticipation, all that bubbling excitement? A low resolution picture of some galaxy with three circles around a few dots? I mean, WTF???

How's that supposed to get any attention? How's that supposed to help getting people to become involved and interested?

I know what you mean. Every chance I get I turn people toward SpaceWeather.com that routinely has actually awesome photographs.

The news was neat even if the pics were disappointing.

I'm old and said neat when I was a kid.
