Well now that AVG is going retail and only gives a 30 day trial I need to find another free Antivirus Software. Any recommendations?

I've been using Antivir for five years and tested various other programs too, including AVG. Although it ain't as good as, let's say Kaspersky, it's light enough and free of charge.

Are you sure about that? I just checked their website and they dont say anything about it. Free AVG.

Personally I use the internet security version of AVG anyways, so Ive been paying for mine for a while.

Its free till the 30 trial ends now. Then I guess uninstall and reinstall. I'm just too lazy to have to download it all over again and do a fresh install.

You could use the 90 day free trial of many brands. When one expires install the next brand. By the time you come full circle it's probably time to reinstall windows and start the cycle again :D I must admit this method has worked for me in the past :P

I hope you AntiVir users do know that the software you are using is made by guys who work in the same region most web viruses are coming from, so you might want to reconsider who you are supporting. It's free but someone is always paying.

That is like saying any software made in Washington state supports software that is bloated, insecure, and crashprone

That link provided there will give you a free version of AVG 8.0 I was skeptical at first after reading the same thing but its just an attempt to force you to buy the retail version. Pay it no mind.
