Whee!! So, do you think they should young-ify Ian Holm, or go for an actually young look alike? Cause Bilbo wasn't a baby in The Hobbit, he was middle age. Of course, Frodo was also supposed to be middle age in LotR but that got a bit...altered.

Good to see the regulars back. Ian Holm is getting on now, it would require a bit of makeup to make him look younger. But you never now they could do it. He IS Bilbo in my mind so it would be a no brainer for me.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
Even if they have to make bilbo a little older than he was in the books, Holm has to do it.
• Isn't Gandalf supposed to be ageless? I thought he was a few thousand years old.

Unless the guy who played Bilbo aged really poorly he should get the part.

If they can get Holm, Ill be crying tears of joy. :)

I think Ian looks great. Remember, they did show us a snippet of The Hobbit in the beginning of Fellowship so not using Ian wouldn't make sense and would create a continuity error so hopefully they are smarter than that.

Ian Holm, Ian Mckellen... It would be hard to imagine it otherwise.

From the MTV interview:
Del Toro: [Holm] certainly is the paragon we aspire to. He will be involved in some manner, I'm sure. But at his age ... it's too early to tell. We are just in the early stages. It's too early to make commitments of that sort. We prefer to let the screenplay and the way the character comes to life guide us in the casting. I have many people in mind. Anything [else] I say will be used against me in a court of law. [Laughs.]
How do you cast a hobbit? Do you use a latex mold of an original? Do you carve a model for the original molds? What material do you use for the finished product?
• Easy and this has happened. Use a Wand of Wounder. Get the 'Creates a Hobit' ability to manifest.
They tried to get rid of the Hobbits by using the 'trademark' laws. It was too late. There here to be found.
