Friends need schooling about B5

I was having a conversation about sci-fi stuff and games, and I brought up Babylon 5. And two of my friends at work said... and I quote....I was ready to burn them both at the stake and feed them to a shadow for this... but they said "It's a generic rip off of Star Trek." My blood was boiling... I was about to encure the wrath of the Vorlons on their behinds.

Instead, I'm going to get them to see it better than that or I'm just gonna boil them for sacralige (like I should be for my spelling).

What would you all suggest I show/tell them to get them to think differntly?

Ooo ooo critical thinking skills time!

Knowledge claims should always be backed by supporting evidence. Ask them why they think that way.

I've found in my recent viewing that in light of the quality BSG and Firefly but out, Babylon 5 season 1 and early 2 didn't age as well as I remembered. While this may be considered blasphemous I've considered making a condensed season 1 that would serve as an introduction tot hose who do not wish to watch it in its entirety.
  • or just do the Larry method and watch season 2 first!

But yeah a condensed season 1 is a good idea. I wish you could get rid of The Gathering altogether but its too important plot-wise.

I really don't give a damn what anyone thinks about my interests. Must come from the fact that no one I know ever checks out what I suggest, but they expect me to go after everything they recommend.
