[spec]That's the only reason i'm a bit worried that this might have been the end of the tenth doctor. Otherwise they have a few loopholes (jenny not changing, though she didn't really regenerate, more like the doctor's detox in [i]The Unicorn and the Wasp[/i]), and the fact that they're only going to do a few specials next year and not a whole series ("to accomodate DT's RSC schedule"), I'm pretty sure they are aware that a regeneration episode is not the best series finale (just check RTDs commentary for the Christmas Invasion), and I'm sure Steven Moffat would prefer to introduce a doctor he will have to live with for (hopefully) a couple of years himself, and have a hand in casting.
Also, while keeping the regeneration bit at the end of "Parting of the ways" secret, filming a whole episode with a regenerated doctor and no spoilers spilling out? They'd have better security than the [insert secret/espionage organisation of your choice].... [/spec]

RubberEagle, you make good points. I hope to God you're right. And yes that would have been even more evil which is why I'm glad they didn't do it. Russell would already be dead.
Here's my sole requirement for the finale: [spec=the finale]One of two things has to happen for Russell to not die at my hands. Either the Doctor and Rose get a passionate kiss, or he gets to tell her he loves her. I don't even care if it's a regenerated Doctor that does it. I don't even care if it happens one second before she fades back into her dimension forever. It just has to happen. Period. I NEED this damnit![/spec]
BigglesThe Man Without a Face
[spec]So... has everyone forgotten that River Song knew the Doctor by that face (not necessarily exclusively, but still that face), and also remembered seeing it older?[/spec]
[spec]Ah, but Time Is In Flux. Who knows how Davros's actions might break history? Davros certainly doesn't care. If he's successful, there'll be no River Song born to meet the Doctor, and the problem takes care of itself.[/spec]
[QUOTE=Biggles;174145][spec]So... has everyone forgotten that River Song knew the Doctor by that face (not necessarily exclusively, but still that face), and also remembered seeing it older?[/spec][/QUOTE]
[spec=the finale]While that may be true, they're now in the magical time flux twilight zone such that anything can happen and they can get away with it. It's possible that he could be a different entity for one part of an episode and then get yanked back into his former self by some timey-wimey flimflam. Timelords can do many things. They can't, however, un-sign the contracts. :p
My bet is on The Doctor regenerating into...himself! They did it with his daughter, so why not him again?[/spec]
[QUOTE=Sanfam;174148][spec=the finale]My bet is on The Doctor regenerating into...himself! They did it with his daughter, so why not him again?[/spec][/QUOTE]
[sp=The Doctor's Daughter]I figured she was just in the fifteen hour hand-growing window, as "generation" counts as "re-generation." That's why she did the glowing breath thing, but not the glowing whole-body thing.[/sp]
[spec=the finale]I agree with RubberEagle, the hand is going to come into this somehow, they've been reminding us it's there. I also wonder if the Doctor's daughter will appear in some capacity.
I've been wondering what this Crucible is and talking to a friend about it. I'm thinking it's some kind of planet maker that has a database of every single world in existance. Once active it can recreate that planet, including all the lifeforms on it...so the Daleks want it to rebuild Skaro and the millions/billions of Daleks that would have been there when it was destroyed. I'm guessing at the end the Doctor changes it and we get Gallifrey and all the Time Lords as well.
Which leads me to why I think Rose is able to appear. Dalek Caan did something he wasn't supposed to by travelling into the Time War and saving Davros. I believe that's what made the walls of the universe start to collapse.[/spec]
That's all I've got so far...too long until the next episode.
Vertigo: I think I know what you mean. There was A LOT of music in this series that was reused from last series. I'm rather surprised actually at the lack of new music in this series.
I'm not saying that I disliked the music in any of the previous episodes of this season, just that until now I likely wouldn't have cared enough to pay for an album.
I never dislike Murray :) I really loved the new version of Rose's Theme and it had BETTER be on any soundtrack they make.
RubberEagleWhat's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
I just remembered something [sp=podcast]in a podcast DT commented that they were just shooting the christmas special, so it's another indicator he's gonna stay[/sp]
[spec=most faithful companion]I was wondering about that... I don't think they'll Kill Sarah Jane, she's got her own show. Martha actually left the doctor (twice), so i wouldn't call her the most faithfull. Jack is immortal, and probably the Face of Boe, so he's not gonna die either. Now, Rose would probably be a good bet, but is she really the most faithfull companion? I actually do think that, like it's allready been said, either the Tardis, or part of the doctor himself are the meant by that.
But if you take the remarks to donna into account, it might actually be her grandfather...[/spec]
[spec=New theory for Finale]I'm thinking Donna is going to steal the Tardis (they made a point of showing the Doctor teaching her how to fly it, they didn't do that with Rose or Martha) and go back into the Time War to stop Davros from being rescued. At the same time she will do something (probably accidently) to prevent Gallifrey's destruction. The Tardis will be very badly damaged during all of this, Donna will die and so the ship is lost, leaving the Doctor stranded on Earth. Perfect setup for the specials next year and the Doctor can somehow find the Tardis again in the fifth series. It will be a reset but one that still means things have changed...and wouldn't be a stupid one like last year.[/spec]
[spec=RubberEagle]I've been thinking about that too. I agree that Martha isn't the most faithful companion for the same reasons you pointed out. You're right about Jack being immortal, so he can hardly have ever lasting death...and he's not the most faithful companion either, he left the Doctor to return to Torchwood and has his own things going on.
Sarah Jane...maybe except a second season of her own series is confirmed.
I thought about the Tardis, it's always been there with the Doctor during his many journeys. Which is the same reason it won't be destroyed, since it's so rooted into the Doctor Who mythology, you can't have the show without the Tardis...doing so would alienate the fans.
That leaves Rose and Donna. Rose because she never wanted to leave the Doctor and has in fact returned for him and Donna because of all the hints in the previous few episodes.
We'll find out tomorrow[/spec]
[URL="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7489402.stm"]This[/URL] is an interesting article, it talks about how they've kept the secrets of the finale so well hidden. Don't worry, there are no spoilers for it (although there are for people who have yet to see 12).
There's apparently a trailer and a sneak peek at episode 13 on the BBC Doctor Who site and I'm refusing to watch. I don't think that [sp]David Tennant is really actually leaving[/sp] but I'm prepared for everything I've heard to be a complete lie, especially given these security measures.
ONE MORE DAY!!!! ARGH!! I'M DYING!!!! *ok I WANTED to put an exploding smilie here but apparently FirstOnes does not HAVE an exploding smilie, which I am quite upset about. Sanfam has been beaten as punishment*
*siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh* I'm happy. I got exactly what I wanted. :D :D :D Well, almost anyway. Close enough. I suppose Russell can be allowed to live.
So whoever said [sp]the hand would "fix" the regeneration issue, right on the money there. And Donna technically was the one to "die". I'm sure Worf is happy we're likely to never see her again. I personally liked her, of course, but nevermind that. I'm not sure that I'm glad no one actually died, I'm not surprised though, Russell really doesn't seem like he likes killing his favorite people, just torturing them and bringing them to the brink of death over and over. I'm fine with it.[/sp]
[spec=torchwood]So it looks like Martha and Mickey will be replacing Owen and Tosh in Torchwood. Fine with me, I love both of them, both will work well on that show.[/spec]
So I'm satisfied with Russell's run of the show. I'm not sure if he's doing the Christmas special or next year's specials or not. I'm really interested now though in series 5 to see what Moffat does. He creates such awesome female characters that I'm prepared for him to create the best companion ever. Next year without regular Doctor is going to be hard.
They really did shaft Spoiler: Donna. :( She couild have at least said she wasn't Spoiler: bovvered on the phone to her friend to make me crack a smile.
At least Spoiler: Rose got what she wanted.
I'm *very* disappointed that Spoiler: Gallifrey wasn't restored though. This finale was supposed to "wipe the slate clean," remember? Doesn't Spoiler: DESTROYING FREAKING GALLIFREY count as something that he should clean up?
No, I think that [sp]restoring Gallifrey[/sp] would be far too much of a reset button. Russell's reset lots of things in his stories. That would have been one step too far.
BigglesThe Man Without a Face
