I've finally got the GOD Sat to a state where I'm happy with it. Its not totally finished as there are still a few tweaks here and there I can make but I'm going to leave it for now.
Its on the SVN, update your copies and have a play. I expect this defence sat will be relatively expensive ingame as it is quite powerful enmass. But perfect for holding an area until the uber ships get researched (ie the sharlin and the warlock)
This has been a bit of a secret project of mine over the last few weeks which, now its mostly finished, I can now finally reveal!
Fully parallax mapped and using the full potential of the new shaders I present to you the new Omega model. This should please the omega fans out there! Right less talk more pics!
It is worth pointing out this is only the 1024x1024 texture resolution version, once the mod is more complete and a texture audit is done I may swap the parallax texture for double resolution one if we have the room. That version is rather nice.
Both the model and the source have been uploaded to the SVN, update your copies.
Just to warn you I still need to LOD the model. The small turrets are rather too detailed at the moment. It clocks in at ~10k at the moment, 5k of which is the turrets. This will easily be brought down ~8k for LOD0.
Now this is done it will be trivial to update the Nova, watch this space if I get the time between revision sessions!
I'm rather pleased with the texture work on this one, it turned out quite well. I've uploaded it to the SVN, enjoy!
In the pics you can also see an updated version of the per-pixel shader which now treats the attenuation per-pixel, this should improve the quality of the smaller lights. I still need to clean the code up so I'll upload it at a later date, consider this a sneak peek. :)
I've been updating the shaders again, they are now per-pixel throughout. I've also developed a new advanced planet shader. I've just started to port the B5TC planets to the new shading model. I think Mars has come out rather well, you should see it rotate ingame. :)
The last pic is quick test implementation of an Earth like planet (just water+cloud atm), the final version will look a hell of a LOT better. I intend to do the atmospheric scattering calculations to simulate the atmosphere+water reflection properly. Sadly simulating the Mie scattering of the clouds is slighty beyond the capabilities of the shader so I can only approximate the clouds.
Here's a quick video capture showing 6 minutes of gameplay. The map shown is the area capture map "Mars". Three allied Earth Alliance AI's are attempting to capture the remaining Minbari control point. There is no sound in this video, so play your favorite B5 track... :)
It uses the advanced planet shader to its full extent and it looks damn pretty ingame. I assure you this really is an ingame model. I've uploaded it to the SVN. Expect a new map with this model and the moon model soon!

I've been working on the hit FX and we have a new map thanks to TheOneNamedViper. Snake has built a superb new GUI for the area capture game type.
