Spoiler: Well, it all seems to be coming to a head, doesn't it? :)
The destruction of the hub was a little easy. But do I care? No, not at all. The Cylons are mortal now. The greatest advantage they had over humanity is now gone. As I've said before, this series doesn't mind shaking things up. And that is good.
Now I wonder how they are going to handle Baltar's admission. I presume the President isn't going to keep that little morsel to herself. Of course, his followers seem like the type that won't care that he caused the destruction of human civilization, so I doubt that he will lose many.
It was nice to see Adama and Roslin finally admit their feelings for each other. The point may be moot considering the President's condition, but nevertheless, it's still good to see.
I'm tired. I must rest. More thoughts to come later. :)
My thoughts on this one:
There was something about this episode which I can't really put my finger on. Its seemed different to what had gone before. Overall I enjoyed it but it didn't turn out to be a real cliffhanger which I think most of us would have expected. And it didn't seem to fit well, rather similar to the previous episode actually. Not that it spoiled it or anything but it was there at the back of my mind as I watched.
Indeed destroying the hub was very easy (nice to see the Cylons taking a leaf from the Imperial Fleet method of design... put the important stuff on show so the rebels can shoot at it :D). Also for the hub to have so few ships protecting it was strange. But I have to say the destruction of the hub was breathtaking. I mean wow, what an explosion... superb cgi there.
Ignoring the whole Baltar bit (and his odd conversation with the robo Cylon), the ending was beautiful. It was kinda of nice in a way to end it with Roslin and Adama reuniting, and not focusing on the final 5 drama. It was a lovely moment and once again Bear did a great job with the music. Beautiful... (actually the music in this episode was top notch, loved the attack sequence as well).
Ok now I'm confused. I thought this was to be the last episode before the break until 2009. Now we have another on the 13th!!! Not that I'm complaining but whats going on with the scheduling? Is the next going to be the cliffhanger?? Oh well having a mid season finale on friday the 13th can't be bad :p
I can't believe it, there's still going to be a mid-season break? Just finish it off already, dammit. This bait and switch game is really starting to get on my nerves.
I did like the Roslin / Adama parts too and her change of heart concerning Spoiler: Baltar. The gene pool is already spread thin as it is, you can't afford to loose anymore people when you are the last ones getting away. :D
Further evidence that actors playing dead people need to be genuinely dead. :P
Frakkin' Awesome. Fuck spoiler tags for this round, I won't need any.
Falcon1, I noticed the same thing. I believe it was in the general tone of the episode. There was substantially more banter (occasionally witty, at that) and the range of character focus was widely expanded. It felt to me as if it were almost straight out of another show entirely, but never in a bad way. I was especially curious about Baltar's general nature. His actions at the start of the episode were almost comical.
Still pissed that there'll be a mid-season break. Ugh.
I fracking want the soundtrack right now! Superb as usual.
OMFG!!! *bounces around uncontrollably with joy* (and you can ask Sanfam, I was in fact actually doing just that)
Spoiler: SHE SAID IT!!! YES!!! My shipper self has been given the greatest gift ever
I can die happy now... :D
*sigh*
*dies*
Spoiler: Also, the commercial/preview fake-out was almost worth the shitty advertising on part of Scifi. I'm glad it wasn't genuine, and it did have me cracking up, but I'm still grumpy that they continue to attempt some form of audience manipulation to get us to watch.

Next week is the last episode before the break. It'll be the tenth regular episode of the season.
As far as post production and such go, they do need at least a little bit of a break to catch up. Bear McCreary only recorded the score for next week's episode a couple weeks ago. The special effects, editing, and other sundries also take time. The earliest they could practically air it, in all likelihood, is after Atlantis finishes it's new season in a few months. They'll probably want to stretch it as long as they can, though, because of all the critical praise it attracts, so I wouldn't be surprised if they wait until 2009. I seem to remember hearing a rumor that it was all but guaranteed that this year would have two DVD releases like Season 2 (which offends my sense of aesthetics. BSG is right next to Babylon 5, which has six nice, perfectly arranged matching boxes and Crusade, which fits stylistically, while the size of the BSG boxes varies wildly).
There are good rumors, though, like the three Razor-style movies that may be coming after the show is over, and the possibility that Sci-Fi might let them make the finale two hours long, effectively giving us an extra episode at the end of the season.
I wasn't moaning about the delay due to effects being finished. It was more due to the long running rumors that Sci fi would hold off airing the completed final segment until january.
January? I'm expecting March to match up with this year :(
When I spoke to the cast at the convention, they were already filming episode 19.
Spoiler: I watched the episode yesterday and I was pretty tired but one scene really woke me up, when D'anna told Roslin she was one of the final five. And then of course it turned out to be a joke...but brilliantly done. I'm surprised nobody commented on it.
Worf
Speaking of Atlantis, they like to give that show mid season breaks as well, I wonder if we'll be alternating between the two.
Spoiler: Sure it does. She went running and then wasn't seen again. It was enough time for Helo and MindTheif-Eight to break in and out, so surely it was enough time for Boomer to hop a heavy raider and get out of dodge.

ANYWAY... Spoiler: It's good to see Tigh in command again. ;)
Make of it what you will. :p

Hmm... maybe they shouldn't have destroyed that hub after all.
Wow I'm amazed at how quiet everyone is. Would have expected more chatter by now. A bad omen??
