What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
in Babylon 5
[quote]BURBANK, CA, April 1, 2008 - Created by J. Michael Straczynski in 1993, Babylon 5 became a Sci-Fi cult fan favorite and a top rated show. Now in 2008, Warner Home Video (WHV) and Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) will take you to back into the Hugo Award winning Sci Fi Universe with Babylon 5: Severed Dreams, an original half-hour Series realised with state-of-the-art Computer Graphics. The Series will debut next January on the CW, with a DVD and BluRay release planned for later that year.
The Series will be produced by Babylon 5 Creator J. Michael Straczynski along with Clemens Gritsch, who co-created the new Show. Set during the third and fourth season of Babylon 5, original cast members are expected to reprise their roles in selected episodes.
Earth Alliance Pilot James Sutton faces a personal dilemma, as he finds himself on the wrong side of the Earth Alliance Civil War, while facing such enemies as the ruthless Raiders, renegade Earth Force Cruisers and Alien operatives bent on destabilizing the Interstellar Alliance. “Like the original Babylon 5”, says Gritsch, “our Story grew out of the Character. At the heart of the show are the decisions, and their impact, of our characters.”
Setting Severed Dreams in the timeframe of the Original Babylon 5 allowed the Producers to recreate some of the most memorable effects sequences of that show with cutting edge High-Definition effects. “Without giving to much away, we will revisit the events in Severed Dreams, the episode that our series borrows it’s name from, and the final efforts to free Earth from Endgame”
Babylon 5 garnered countless honors including two Emmys, two Hugo Awards, the Ray Bradbury Award from the Science Fiction Writers of America, the Saturn Award, five English Media 'Cult TV' Awards, the Sci-Fi Universe Reader Choice Award for Best TV Series and was the winner of the TV Guide Poll for Best Sci-Fi Show among others. The show also enjoyed 9 successful years in syndication, spawned five feature length TV movies, and the made-for-video instalment “The Lost Tales”.
"Babylon 5: The Lost Tales has a richly imagined storyline and an extraordinary vision of the 23rd century created by the renowned J. Michael Straczynski. WHV is excited to release this made-for-video title that continues the storyline of Babylon 5, one of the most successful science fiction series of all time," said Jeff Brown, WHV, Senior Vice President and General Manager, TV, Animation and Family. "Although the show has been off the air for a few years, it continues to have a fervent fan base that is eager for this new installment."
