It was fun while it lasted.

Those seem like pretty decent viewing figures :/

Worf
• Great for Cable, decent for network. And in network television, apparently decent isn't good/profitable enough.

I'm still really hoping that another (i.e. Cable) network will pick it up. Many of the comments the producers have been making in recent interviews tend to imply that they have been in talks with some networks already...I am hoping that an official announcement by CBS will lead to positive momentum on other fronts. There is still plenty left for them to tell in the story.

"Profitable" depends on how much it cost to make relative to the number of viewers. If a programme cost $10m an episode, it probably wouldn't be profitable with "decent" viewer numbers. As I recall, the very high cost to produce was one of the stated reasons for Farscape being cancelled.

Part of the problem, was that the show was canceled in the first place, Had Jericho not been canceled, it prolly would have kept its 7-9 million viewers per ep from last year, this year, the show was rushed to pack 22 episodes worth of info into 7, and people didnt want to invest their time into a show that had a shaky future.

From what i've heard Sci-Fi channel has already passed on Jericho, So the current possibilities are USA and TNT, and we all know how much fun it is to have TNT doing your show..
• Given the original programming options available on Sci Fi now, and with the impending departure of Battlestar, I am surprised they would pass on such a quality show with an established audience. It must cost too much...I guess ECW (vomit) is much more profitable.

*Is glad he only watched two eps*

It looked good, but I saw my first eps last night on Scifi...didn't have time to watch the 3rd. just as good. :)

I'm contributing to the death of television. I watch shows I know are going to finish, and then don't start watching new ones.

Battlestar and 24 are the only shows I watch. Disappointed that BSG had a rough spot, but oh well...it's the last new show I plan to get into. I'll continue watching 24, but thats it except for reruns of shows I've already seen to finish. :) )
• Jericho didn't look expensive. Having a nuclear bomb might have been over the limit though.

I would put Jericho up into the category of underappreciated shows, just like Firefly. The public may not be in the mood for a post-nuclear-strike-apocalyptic show, and that is understandable, but it's nonetheless a well played what-if scenario of a town getting back on its feet with characters that grow on you and that you care about.

If anything this show is about people, their struggle for survival using means at their disposal, in an atypical and realistic "it-could-happen-to-you" way (at least most of the time).

Stingray, and thats where CBS Effed up, because of the shortened 2nd season, we didnt get as much character driven show as we did in season one, it was more plot driven, and that turned a lot of people off.

Great shame as I really liked this show. Shall watch the last episode tonight... sniff...
• Not home tonight, tomorrow. *sniff*
• I'm glad they got to end it. Kind of forced but I can deal with it.
• Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
Just finished watching the final 2 episodes. They ended it well considering the short run. Got to hand it to the writers, they did a good job with the slot they had.

Sure would be ideal for SciFi to pick this up but hey they probably have more wrestling stuff to add. Maybe the nuts campaign should be directed their way now...

I wonder what the dvd sales of season 1 have been like?
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
The DVD sales were quite good,

there is a Jericho chat room that was set up by all us crazies, and 2 nights ago we had 3 of the producers stop by, as well as 2 writers, the props master and the set dresser, also one of the extras.

From what they said, Sci-Fi is out, but TNT, A&E, and DriecTV are interested.

And sending Sci-Fi some love in the form of well written letters may sway them.

Basically the ratings were not good enough for CBS Television, however CBS/Paramount is pushing very strongly for the show to continue, they are actively shopping it, and strongly believe in it.

So sending letters to CBS/Paramount is also something they want done.

They say that the story itself will prolly continue in some form, maybe novels if they cannot get a TV series. There is the strong possibility of a Movie, but as for TV, something has to come together before June, which is when the casts contracts expire. we all know how hard it is once they are out of their contracts.
• Novels, without the bad music. ;) It is a good story line. If there going to publish then I hope they novelize it from the beginning.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
I'd rather see it back on TV, but if the only way to tell the story is via Novels, i'm all for that.
• Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
Its good to know there some studio interest in the show. Lets hope it happens. A movie would be interesting but I too would prefer it to stay on tv.
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
The show that refuses to die. :D

How about axing the guys who decide whether to cancel a show or not?
• Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
Woot! :D

wait wait wait...they finished it?

In which case I may just watch it at some point...
• well, A#, we are certainly hoping they have not finished it, and are allowed to continue.

Though, to be honest, the finale did serve well as an ending and a beginning...it would actually segue into a 'spinoff' pretty well, since the scale would be grander...and if that's the way to see more, then I would be for it!
