Introducing My Boyfriend to Babylon 5
Not long after we moved in together my Boyfriend asked to watch Babylon 5. He saw the pilot on the Sci Fi channel long ago but became quite distressed when "half the cast changed."
I decided to skip the pilot for that reason, and I only have Season 1 and 2 on hand here at the apartment. As of right now we just finished watching Hunter, Prey.
He slept through Infection and agrees with me that TKO is the worst thing ever.
The characters he is most fond of are the ambassador aids. When Sinclair left at Season 2 and the actress for Na'Toth changed he became quite upset with me =p. And "Vir and Lennier rhyme."
He pointed out to me that Mira Furlan as a slightly lazy eye. I never noticed it before and it is now driving me nuts!
His current theories:
The Vorlons are actually the ships and the encounter suit is controled by the ship-being. So "kosh is just a projection of the ship."
I'll post more as we view it.

While I like Sinclair, Sheridan is definitally the better character.
Na'toth's replacement was just pathetic.
As far as a slightly lazy eye, I have a friend who is 1/2 Chinese and 1/2 wight.
One eye is mostly Chinese the other mostly wight.
And now you know!
Could I have 1 and 2 back then?
I'm considering indoctrinating Merrie. Maybe. I'm not sure. The timing has to be right.
And I do actually own all five seasons now and have both the original Gathering/ItB release and the movies pack. And I'll get crusade someday. :p
I actually have lazy eye, and have had it all my life. The people who did some studying of me when I was younger were pretty surprised. Apparently, I use one eye for near and one for far (which I notice. Or is that normal? I know people have dominant eyes like what you use to aim), and when I read, they said that I start a sentance with my left eye and then finish it with my right eye, which I don't notice at all.
And now you know!
I've been gaining a bit of trouble with my own increasingly lazy/lagging right eye. Close-proximity vision is dominated by my left eye, with a clear bias towards it that I've been noticing a great deal more so lately. Long range, however, is dominated by my right, each offering supplementary vision for the other for the purposes of depth perception, but never quite being particularly equal. The biggest change toward this state came after some months of unexplained pain and soreness in the right eye (my doctor at the time couldn't find anything wrong beside a slightly high level of floaters), which leads me to suspect it is a physical change of some sort (Likely decreased flexibility, fixing the lens into a slightly more specific form).
I've had a few people notice the difference in eye tracking, but it's only ever happened when I've been quite tired. My right eye seems to lag behind in fast response quite a good deal. The worst is when attending a lecture or such...switching from taking notes to watching a board far off in the distance.

Haha! I had that exact same theory when I watched the show the first time.
And the movies.
*Sigh*
I NEED MONEY. :) but they ARE getting affordable...
*Looks at paycheck*
Damnit.
Oh, another thing Croxis, what's his opinion on the Shadows? I once saw an old post from when the show was first airing (I wasn't a fan back then though, this is an old post that I found. I became a fan while the fifth season was airing and TNT was playing all the reruns. The only episodes of the show [not including Crusade and the movies] I saw on their first airing were the final five. I remember how The Fall of Centauri Prime really put me down. Still the saddest episode for me) in which someone thought that the Shadows might actually be victims in the whole thing, this being before the end of the third season in which the person posted that.
He was never a fan of Talia so wasn't sad with her leaving. In fact he is more interested in her now that she is evil. Sadly she never returns (my comment: what is it with security staff and telepaths?)
As far of the Shadows: He thinks it pushes a bit too hard on the fantasy edge but is otherwise a good storyline.
Needless to say he was excited when I brought season 3 home just now :)
A quote: "Kosh didn't look like Jesus" "He didn't look human and look kinda gay."
This is why Kosh never had kids! =p
Every time a Drazi appears on screen he asks "are those the green and purple guys?" "They are such a simple people, I love them!"
And Vir is much hearted.
In the second ep of the season he wonders what is so dangerous that requires some people to be in hasmat suits and others just walk around. He is also definitely getting a kick out of the elevator scene.
You'd would think that in LA they could find someone who looked Hebrew. ;)
you mean the report papers they have?
Yeah, I don't see how the Shadows can be regarded as fantasy. Especially if you consider the Clarke quote of high technology being indistinguishable from magic.
Also, I don't consider fantasy because of the "magic" shadows. But it is a classic, and arguably necessary, element of fantasty stories that there be an overall dark evil that people are fighting, and it is always ancient. Be they flying in space or banished to the netherworld.
Jake
Ah yes, the second best thing to watching B5, is introducing it to others and discussing it after.
OOPS!!! NO SPOILERS!!!!
The Vorlons are actually the ships and the encounter suit is controled by the ship-being. So "kosh is just a projection of the ship."
That theory will obviously change as the plot unfolds. Never had that theory myself but the organic configuration of the ships told me that there was more to them.
"Why do the Narn always meed in stairwells and hallways and never a room."
"So Londo is going to be emperor, and Centauri is going to crash and burn, and then Vir will be emperor and rebuild it."
Severed Dreams:
At the end when the Captain refuses to put the EA uniform: "Ooo! They should get new uniforms!"
"You know now that the Grey Counsel is desolved the Minbari might go into Civil War."
He also doesn't like the Captain's and Delenn's relationship. He calls it backward.
The episode after: "So what is the casing call like? 'We are looking for people who looks like idiots.'" in reference to the underground nightwatch group.
"Lienner looks like a dinosaur, he just has a dinosaur face. *sees me typing* It is a nice face though!"
