Trying to remember an "Ultimate Time Capsule"

David of MacDavid of Mac Elite RangerCa
I can't remember enough about this for Google to be any help, and I'm fairly certain I might've seen it mentioned here at some point, so I'm going to appeal to the brain-trust.

I recall hearing once about attempts to create a sort of "information bunker" meant expressly to aid future archeologists, which would be designed to withstand any catastrophe and would store some large amount of important historical and scientific data. I believe the plan was that there would be several of these archives planted across the world, and that part of the trouble of creating them would be finding some way to encode the information so that anyone could have a chance to understand it, even if it was found long after all our current languages had become extinct.

Thinking about it further, I might be conflating part of this with the attempt to create a universal "Keep Away!" sign for the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository, which likewise would need a design that would clearly impart that the area was dangerous to any possible viewer over the next 10,000 years, and thus needed to somehow do so without relying exclusively on modern symbolism and language.

Does anyone remember anything about this archive that would let me find further information? Even just the project's name would be enough.

The first thing that came to mind for me was also the Yacca Mountain complex.

Did a little searching and found this which more or less seems to fit what you're describing I think. The Ozymandias project?

This reminds me of that Sealab 2021 episode when Sparks leaves a time capsule full of some deadly gas for aliens in the future to find when they explore Earth. At the end of the episode, it actually shows some aliens millions of years in the future when humanity is extinct, and they open up the capsule and the deadly gas comes out and kills them. Also, there's a sign that comes out that says something like "Die, alien bastards!" and a picture of Sparks's face.
    I love that show.

If were going to have projects such as these, they are better off on the moon, or at a lagrange point of the earth sun system. Then again, if they are for jump starting society, they would be pretty hard to reach.

It's too bad Cap'n Murph had to go off and "Fight in the Spice Wars." Without him, the show really lost its motivation and just couldn't carry on with the same crazed enthusiasm. it had before.

"There can be only none!" (oddly enough, try searching for that term and see what comes up)

I do believe it was a show designed exclusively for us.

The Bizzaro episode was actually the first episode I saw. I was thinking "What the hell is this?" So then I had to watch more of it after that.

The more I think about it, the more I believe I was remembering the Yucca Mountain Project, which ended up being good enough for my needs. Thanks, guys.
