Yeah, exams are no fun. I got one tomorrow, but it's an easy one so no need to study hard for it.
  • ...exams...in early January?

You on Trimesters or something? My classes don't even start until next Wednesday!
(Oh yea...and I won't have a single test or exam this entire semester. ;) Aside from re-taking Art History 1 because it didn't transfer, I havn't had any test in over a year now. Also haven't bought any books. ;) )

    And I graduate in April...WOOOT!!!
(Too bad I have about 9000 hours of class work to do in that time, and 2880 hours to do it in, not counting work and sleep and food)

Well technically our years are divided into 3 semesters, but only MSc students have classes in the 3rd semester. We just have the 1st semester exams after xmas for some reason. At Edinburgh they used to be before xmas too, but about 4yrs ago now they moved theirs to before xmas. Unfortunately they didnt start the semester any earlier, so the net result was that we finished classes on a friday, and then could (and did on one occasion) have the exam for it the next tuesday. I'll add that that was a 3rd yr degree exam too. Fucking registry couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery!

And in Finland there are 2 semesters (fall/spring) per academic year, divided into 5 periods (plus summer teaching period)...

But you live in a different country. :) The Summer School semester at Auckland Uni has its exams in early February, having started lectures in the first week of January.
