That was close

So I call my friend who is supposedly having a birthday celebration at this club. I miss the train, tell her I can't make it and low and behold she has a sur0prise party somewhere completely opposite of the club. Glad I missed out on that one.

With "friends" like that you don't need any enemies.

I think "friend" is one the most misused words in any language. :D

Thats the first person I've met online that I've tried to meet in reality. Definitely not making that mistake again, but I guess it was a blessing in disguise.

I've met a fairly large number of people from the internet online and so far, no missing organs. I'd declare that a victory. Though I do find it interesting how different communities have distinctly different results for the "accuracy" of these online personas. From what I've found, Firstones is fairly true to life, but folks on (for example) Hardforums are almost the opposite of their online identity with the exception of a select few.

I've also met people who came across as a complete a** online, but in RL, turned out to be a pretty nice person. I've also found that these tend to be people who are very knowledgable in that paticular subject matter and are not willing to suffer fools lightly.

firstones is the exception in this case i met her on dare i say it "Myspace." Trusting someone from myspace is like trusting someone from the IRS to be your friend, for lack of a better analogy.

Just Remember, Friend is only one letter off from Fiend....
  • Fiend is just two letters from end. End is just three letters from

I have found the same to be true.

When it comes to meeting people from online, I always arrange to meet them in very public places, places I've been to before at least a dozen times, unless I've talked to them sufficiently before hand to feel like I trust them. Sanfam was one of those that I talked to A LOT before I met him for the first time when he came over to fix my roommate's computer. :D
