Great, another reason to delay the moon mission yet again, now we need to focus on rocks hitting us.

If it does happen it would certainly be interesting to observe the effects

Yeah! Just walk it off, it'll be OK.

Maybe after all Earth will have "dates" with Apophis.

We must do our part for the Solar System.
• Poor little mars rangers.

...by blowing up a small portion of it!

Do we need to do any more for the solar system? I mean we seem to be wrecking this planet pretty well, so I cant help but feel blowing up a bit of Mars is surplus to requirements :p

Entertaining tho! ;)

Oe real benefit: instead of going to mars for a sample, we may be able to wait for a piece of Mars to come to us.

Nothing new about impact candidate of thread but there's nice article about predicting Apophis' orbit.

http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/apophis/

It was found that small uncertainties in the masses and positions of the planets and Sun can cause up to 23 Earth radii of prediction error for Apophis by 2036.
Isn't it nice to know how uncertain even this kind simple sounding calculations can be?
